Can someone please tell me which Humbrol color (or mix of) may approximate gulf war sand; ie the color on a contemporary Abrams?
Thanks.

Not for a contemporary Abrams. Testors Model Master US Army/Marine Gulf Armor Sand is only accurate for vehicles painted in Saudi Arabia for ODS ('90-'91). It is based on a local paint that was used to quickly repaint vehicles into sand as they came into theatre. It is not based on any FS number CARC paint. Basically, it was an enamel house paint.
The paint you want is Model Master Sand, FS 33531. It is the closest in a bottle to modern CARC Sand. I don't know the number, but Humbrol has the same shade as Middlestone, or something like that.

Thanks, Phil, I tried the 121, got that from another website, not too bad but it is kind of pinkish; could use a bit more brown. But it will do, I'll send the troops into the oilfields in a weenie pink tank any day (lol)
