Iam building a tamiya sturmgeschutz 4 ok, i painted the model dark yellow, then after it dryed i put a gloss coat on it so i can do a wash, then i used a red brown wash i did it all over the tank, and it looks crapy this was my mistake , i allways have trouble with washes, can i use a dark yellow wsh over the red brown and after dry brushing will it look ok,,,. i just started to build ag.....in and i never had any luck with washes thanks i use enamels on it .......yes i just took the brush and went over the whole tank . i did this with the dark red. but after it dryed i went back and re washed it with the dark yellow it looks ok now, i guess i cant wash the whole tank

Okay Tazz, don't sweat. Don't add more paints yet.
Firstly, what kind of paints did you use? Acrylics, enamels, oils?

OK Tazz, just relax. Go make a nice cup of herb tea or something. Celestial Seasonings 'Sleepy Time' is a good choice....

OK, really. The first question that entered my mind was; When you 'washed', did you just take a brush and swab the whole model with the wash and let it dry? In your post you say " ..then I used a red brown wash I did it all over the tank..." Is that what you did?

Tread.

P.S. just curious, how long did you let the gloss coat dry?

One thing to remember when using washes is to let the base coats cure for a few days, sometimes a week. And start with a lighter wash, it's always easier to darken a wash than it is to try and un-do what was done.

Tazz,
The first thing you did was oke.
but then you made a mistake.
This how i do it :
I paint the model in it's basic color.
Let it dry for 48 ours
Then i make a mixture of 90% turpentine and 10% matt black.
Before i apply this wash mixture i apply clean turpentine film from top to bottom on my model. When the model is completely wet the i apply the wash mixture with a brush.
NOTE : don't sweep your brush over model just let the wash mixture find it's own way.
All the wash that is to many you can just easely take away with a tissue
DONT WIPE THE TISSUE OVER YOUR MODEL !!!!! U JUST LET THE MIXTURE SUCKS INTO YOUR TISSUE
After you've done this let your model dry for 24 ours

Et Voilá

Eric
