This is my latest vignette Omaha Beach. The figurers is from Corée productions, the sand and the ammo is from the real omaha beach.

Hi Eric,
Figures and mini scene look great. I like the ammo and concept and the OMAHA BEACH Stencil looks the part. Not sure about the 29 Inf Div etc might be better with a small brass plaque, but then again maybe not!!
Great work.

Great concept. I echo Alans comments. Figures and base good, except the hand painted 29th could stand a bit of an upgrade.

Hi Erik
I hope those bullets are inert now. Would hate to see them cook off in a house fire around all your models and family valuables. How did you get those onto an airplane home?
Love the idea and the fact that the two figures are about the same length. Puts the image of the men being live rounds themselves amongst other dead comrades (spent rounds) lying amongst the sand.
Great

Hi Erik
Love this little vig. My granda was in the Royal Navy and deployed US troops onto Omaha beach.
Like the Omaha stencil but would rather have a brass plate would go with the rounds. No matter what its still great

Those rounds, (the two inner ones with bullets attached) look live! The primers haven't been struck. (no dimple like the other two) You might want to get rid of them, probably not real stable due to age, exposure, etc.

My point exactly. If they have been emtied and made inert then should be ok. But if not, as you say would not take much to get them cooking off. A model show with an ex military person on the skrutineering may end up calling in Bomb disposal to the show at a big cost and disruption to the show. You could end up with the bill.
Police get very edgy too if live rounds are about.
Don't try to make them inert yourself as you could end up with more than egg on your face.
Just a thought.

How authentic are they ......the rounds? They look as though they were soaked in salt water for a while. I would not worry too much about them going off in a house fire . Lots of people have ammo at home and the fire department encounters this stuff all the time . When ammo goes off outside of a weapon it is dangerous but not quite as dangerous as in a gun barrel or sealed airtight container.. Besides I would think the fire would melt your stash long before the rounds would cook off. I do like the dio. It looks great and gives honor to the folks who were there on that beach. Nice thought provoking dio.........A brass nameplate would be nice.............Al

That's a really nice little scene you've put together there, Erik. A very original concept (to me anyway, I've never seen one like it!) and the figures are well painted.
I'm going to have to disagree with the other guys because I really like the hand-painted 29th Division label. The way you've done it, I think you've captured the flavour of the era very nicely. Looks just like the kind of writing you see on ordinance, crates and other military paraphernalia in wartime newsreel footage, and my guess is that's the effect you were aiming for.
In which case I'd say leave it as it is.

Thank you for the comments. About the rounds, the gunpowder is removed. So they are harmless. But it´s nice that you are worried, thanks for your considerateness

I echo Steve here! I liked the hand painted writing...makes it look more "original". I would keep it that way! Great scene, huge story in such a small vignette.

Great viginette, Erik.
Nice to hear the gunpowder is removed. I was worried about that also for a few moments.
Thanks for sharing

Erik, that is one well thought out mini-dio. The use of the bullets brings the viewers eye right to it and then you really start to look. Great idea.

The figures look great. Do they come attached to the base or can they be seperated?

This is beautiful as it is. Great little vignette. The hand written "29th" gives it the human touch, which is what it's all about. Thanks for sharing Erik!
Cheers!
