I'm looking at doing a dio with some RN sailors swimming towards a rescue liferaft.
Anyone got any good suggestions for what figures I can use for this?
Thanks
Paul

Could you use the American PT boat crew, with some mods, it might serve your purpose. This should be good, hope it works and have fun.

Don't use the Irish. They drink too much...even when swimming!

Good suggestion but the equipment was different the US navy used the mae west and the RN had inflatables worn around the waist.Good reference would be " In which we serve " and The Cruel sea the first film was made during the war just a thought take a look at the shipwrights might be something there. Good luck with your dio

I thought the mae west was an inflatable worn by aircrews. In most of the books I have, navy personel had a life jacket covered in cloth but filled with either feathers or the bock type with balsa wood. Also, pictures show many did not wear them but kept them close. Some combat areas would probably be tight fits, so some swimming without a vest on would be feasible mixture, as per combat footage of resues. Not my area of normal building so I might be wrong here.

I stand corrected Bob it was an inflatable worn by air crews,I thought the name generic for all life preservers the USN ones I am thinking of were a kapok filled jacket type which had a large neck support and tied in front

Hi Paul,
I don't know of any swimming figures around so you would have to sculpt/conver your own to fit the scene.
U models make some British sailors you might be able to use/convert and also UK life preservers. Hornet do UK sailors heads.
Wee Friends also do RN sailors which are very neat.
