In reading a couple of articles about building Abrams' Thunderbolt VII, I saw some referenced the fact that it had a .50cal fitted as a coaxial in place of the standard .30cal.
I was wondering which variant was the likely choice -
A) The aircraft-style, with the full-length perforated jacket (36" barrel), or
B) The HB-style (standard pintle-mount, minimal jacket, 45" barrel)?
Personally, I'm leaning toward 'A', since it appears that most of the mouting hardware seems to be quite similar to that of the .30cal.
Thanks in advance!

It's A. The .50's were "liberated" from airfields.

Don't know where you heard that tale. All the pics of Shermans with a .50 cal coax I've seen had M2s mounted, Floyd's choice B. You could tell by the end of the barrel.

@ Tony-
Anyway you can direct me to one of those pics? I searched for a couple of hours on the 'net and wasn't able to find anything conclusive - post war, "gate guards", museum pieces were most of my results, with only a few lower-rez pics showing anything like a coax (and that was just a blurry line).
One thing, at least - it'll probably be the easiest thing to fix if I get it wrong
