Winter Panther Late War with resin tank riders from the usual suspects- some Warrior, some Alpine, some Verlinden, some put together from the spare parts box.

That looks great Jon! Your figures look very realistic, very animated. The extra items placed on the Panther and Jeep are especially effective.
Fine work. Look forward to seeing more of it here.

Great work! The setting is winter, but there are 4 German soldiers in summer uniform, which is a bit odd.

LOL, I know what you mean but I actually saw a pic of German tank riders in mixed dress- an underdressed- in what appeard to be mid-winter that spoke volumes about what the Germany Army was going through near the end. Total collapse and a keen lack of resupply.
Besides, look at the expressions on those soldiers faces- they're REALLY flipping cold ! I may have the pic somewhere in a book in my library, if I can dig it up I'll post it.
Cheers !

Impressive work. Thanks for sharing. I too have seen photos of mixed dress among German soldiers late in the war.

Fantastic job. Those poor guys look really cold. The odd thing that I noticed is that the US jeep has a map , weapon and radio left behind. Not usually done. Even if the occupants were killed , the Germans would have picked that stuff up. .....Al

Brilliant diorama Jon.
It really tells the story so well and the atmosphere is amazing. Great work also on the figures, I love that tank commander and the Driver is very well done also.
How did you do the trees?

Hi Jon,
Excellent stuff. There is a great level of detail in this one, lots to look at and enjoy. The layout, setting, vehicles and troops all blend well together creating a really interesting scene.
The scene has a nice real feel about it and reflects the level of work you've put into the build.
Very inspiring.

Thanks Alan and Gentlemen, I'm happy to have found this comfy little spot and am thankful to be made to feel welcome. This is a great place to hone and improve anyone's skills and i've already learned plenty from several of you 1/35 modeling dervishes !
By the way Jon, the trees are garden variety roots. Believe it or not you can find these in your own yard[ or maybe your neighbors-oops ] if you take some time with it and search the little buggers out.
Another good source for 'trees' and other vegetation, at least in the States are pet/fish shops, meaning fish as pets. If it's the right place you'll find similar looking roots and fish tank-type vegetation that works well in 1/35 scale.
Cheers to one and all and Happy New Year !

Did anyone notice that the GREAT WHEATHERED Panther in the diorama is the 1975 Tamiya's kit???
I wan to to hear again someone telling me that "you can't do a decent model with an old kit"
Two words:
GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations
Best regards.

Great piece of work! So many different things to check out. Only input I could suggest is the map. It looks way too new. maybe crinkle or give it water stains. if it's winter & sitting out exposed to the elements it wouldn't look so fresh (plus it would be wrinkled & crinkled from whover was using it before the jeep was abandoned). Aside from that very minor observation that's one A+ piece of work!

What really stands out to me is how miserable all of the jerries look! Outstanding paintwork to put character into their expressions

Great suggestion. I would love to hear ideas about how to weather the [Verlinden] maps to simulate weather wear, particularly from anyone who's worked with this product before.
Anyone ?

Nice dio. Not to sound egotistical or anything, but reminds me of one of my dios, that is the shape of the base cut to your size and the sagebrush trees. Did you use pink foam? It's great for dios and easy to carve than regular styrofoam.

LOL, no it's just the angle of the pic that makes it look that way, I think I have a view of the rear, if I can find it I'll post it.
Cheers !
