Hi folks anybody thinking of getting these large models for the pig sty or to build.
My hobby guy will have the Loki in tuesday and the Leo in next Fri.
Plus where to store a 35 inch model if you do build it.

HI. Been considering the Leopold on down the line. Feel it would make a great Xmas present for myself, to myself. Ha!
My only question at this time is the comparisons between the Dragon kit and the Trumpeter one. I can only swing for only one, so I'm going to wait and see how the write-ups between these two monsters come off. I've heard the Dragon kit has between 700 and 800 pieces, and the Trumperter one almost 1100 pieces. So there's some pretty big differences between them just in that area alone.
I imagine price and the molded -on detail or lack thereof , will be the deciding factor for me.
My dealer said he can get me one of the Dragon's for $100 or less, roughly. He gives so much off if one of his regular customers orders something special, and that way he doesn't have to add it to his store's inventory when it comes in.
Time will tell.
Take care, sgirty

TankCarl,
How did you like the Karl? I'm thinking of either the Leopold or the Karl as the big project for fall/winter. A few people didn't give high marks to the Karl though.
I recently finished a Trumpeter S-tank- good detail, but they use a plastic that is softer than the Tamiya and DML plastic I'm used to. Personally I'd choose a DML Leopold just because of the plastic- that softer plastic was harder to work with.

Internethobbies.com has the Leopold on right now for about $80US. After the introductory sale it goes up to $100US.

Personally, I like the softer Trumpeter plastic. I've recently built their 350 scale Arizona and am deep into the Essex. The softer plastic makes carving/bump removal a real simple task. No knife slipping and cutting gouges into the piece or ME. Of course with one of those rail guns the concern might be for droopy gun tube syndrome. Don't rush, wait for the write ups and comparisons that are sure to come out. If you give it 6 - 8 months, you can pick one up on Ebay for 25% cheaper usually.
