I'm looking for resources for the above title, or (hope against hope!) suitable figures. Since I assume no sort of figures exist for this sort of subject, I figure I have to go it alone...

Does anyone have either pics or figure ideas I could use?

TIA,

Damon.

Well this thread on the net has some pictures

As for "pre Flecktarn" figures that's a mostly blank spot. Elite has a few drivers but in the later (post 1970s) Uniform.

I could be wrong but aren't the DML/Dragon Bundeswehr paratroopers set on the later edge of the timeframe you are looking for. Non-flecktarn with Uzi and G3s (in service 1959+).

They are hard to find but there might be some Hecker and Goros Bundeswehr figures for this timeframe.

I should clarify that I'm really after tankers to populate the AFV club M41G (and maybe at a later date the italeri M47), though infantry would be useful too.

The closest I can come to on my own would be the old Verlinden NATO tank crew (which I'm using on another model, so I've already gone down that route), though they are I think a little late for what I want to do.

Really looking for the initial camo uniform stuff.

I think the DML paras are a bit later -- 80s to early '90s.

The Paras are in the last "pre Flecktarn" pattern. There have been at least two different uniform sets before that including cammo uniforms and the (in)famous "Filzlaus". The pattern used by Dragons "Paras" was introduced in the 1960s (I find 1963 as a general introduction date with some test sets as early as 1960)

As for tankers and the M41 in special the Tankograd "M41 and M47" book has quite a few B/W pictures that shows tankers from that time

The Dragon paratroopers already have a Splitterschutzweste so they are from late 80s/ early 90s. I think if you go with really early versions you could use American soldiers and add different insignia.

Hah! So who does American tankers ca 1950-1960?

I still have the Tamiya figure that came with the Leopard A4. Would this be a good starting point? Perhaps a quick decapitation and replace with a head wearing the WWII feldmutze?

Hi Damon,

i would try ot the Korsin Pocket Figure set from Dragon. Iīthink it is now re-released. The American Uniforms are from Korea /summer and i think you could use them to make Bundeswehr Figures. Also have a look at this website. Itīs a mecca for Bundeswehr Modelers. Itīs more modern Bundeswehr but perhaps you find something. The only disapointment is for me that the Figures are Metal. You will find all kind of figures and weapons sets. http://www.dolp-modellbau.de/webshop/index.php
Also look at Azimut Productions. Under Figures- ADVM I think they have some good figures you can easly convert. For example this set http://www.phpshopxml.com/azimut.shop/CID/6f6c16ccfda5643e5ae1c2c7c16e1af6/function/itemPageDisplay/shopItemCode/ADV35577

Hope it helps,

Regards

Stefan
