Hey there everyone.
Getting ready to start painting a Trumpeter LAV-C2. Doing it in NATO 3 color.
Just wondering what the closest approximations of the Tamiya NATO colors would be in Vallejo.
I run a shop, and carry Vallejo in stock.....but have never really looked to see what would be close to the colors I need.
Here is what I am thinking:
Tamiya NATO Black - Vallejo 950 Black, or 995 German Grey (as Tamiya Nato Black does have a hint of grey in it, and not a true black) or 862 Black Grey
Tamiya NATO Green - 888 Olive Grey
Tamiyta NATO Brown - 872 Chocolate Brown or 875 Beige Brown
What do you think? Alternatively, I can go with the Vallejo Air colors as well, so if you have suggestions for that line as well, it would be appreciated.

Hey Scott,
Did you use the conversion chart on the AV site? Mind you, I think it's the same conversion they feature in the leaflets...
Sorry I can't be of help

I didn't look there, forgot about it actually.
I was using the Ultimate Paint Conversion Chart
Which has exactly "0" matches to the Tamiya NATO colors in any line of paint, nevermind just Vallejo.

Well after consulting the Ultimate Paint Conversion Chart, and Vallejo's own conversion charts, I am getting a multitude of answers.
XF-67 NATO Green, Vallejo Model Color 894 Russian Green, Vallejo Model Air 14 Gunship Green, and Model Air 17 Russian Green. Sounds about right on all accounts.....the Russian Green in the Air line seems a bit darker than the one in the Model Color Line, but otherwise once the weathering and such is done....probably won't be able to tell a difference.
XF-68 NATO Brown, Model Color 846 Mahogany Brown, Model Air 40 Burnt Umber (looks way too dark to me), Model Air 80 Rust (looks more like it).
XF-69 NATO Black, (this is where it gets interesting), Model Color 897 Bronze Green (WTF?), Model Air 21 Black Green (ok more like it), Model Air 56 Black Grey (again more like it....just doesn't have a tinge of green in it like the Black Green does), Model Air 79 Camo Dark Green (Again What the heck!?)
I have some old bottles of the Tamiya stuff kicking around for the Brown and Green, but none of the black.....so I am failing to remember if the NATO Black has a bit of green in it like the other colors suggest, I just remember it not being a pure flat black, but thought it was more on the grey side, than the green side.
Any thoughts? Opinions?

Tamiya's NATO black is more of a very dark gray (not greenish to my eyes), so I'd go with the Model Air Black Gray.
