Hi guys,
Last night I have started to work on my Tamiya Jagdpanther (Kit #35203 Late version). So far, the construction turns out very well. I got the Friul tracks for it and I am looking into buying a gun barrel for it, but don't know which company makes it. Also I am thinking to get the PE from Tamiya (just the engine grille). My question is going towards those of you who already built this kit before. How did you find the construction, were there any bottle necks, any tricky parts? How did you paint it? Do you have any piece of advice to ease the construction? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Seb,
I had done this kit when I just came back to armor modeling, my second or third kit. It's really an easy build, so far as I remember there was no bottle neck whatsoever, I think Ammo has a barrel for it, I used it for my Jagdpanther from DML. IF you don't want go full lot on this one, the screens are all you need to make this one look good.
I painted mine with 3 color camo tone, which if you are using an airbrush is just a piece of cake.
HTH.

Thanks SS74. I got the PE from Tamiya last night. I have another question. When working with PE, do I have to apply a special treatment to the metal parts before painting? I heard that it's better to dip the PE parts in vinegar. What about Friul tracks? Any special treatment before painting?

I built mine a while back as well.
I think Jordi Rubio does a barrel, the Tamiya screens are nice, but I like the woven, 3D, effect of the Aber screens better.
The Eduard set dresses the kit up very nicely as well, but requires more time and energy.
IF you're going for out of the box, it's a good kit for that-as are all the Tamiya Panther G's.
I don't remember any specific pitfalls, and theTamiya kit is very nice.
I've got another one with all the aftermarket in the workd collected for it, but have not gotten started.
I did mine in late war 3 color cammo.

Hi Sebm for both PE, resin, metal barrels, plastic, or friul track, a coat of primer will do , I use Mr. Surfacer 500 in the can for my armor kit, it gives a texture I really like. One can can be good for about 2 tank the size of Jagdpanther. HTH.

CMK-Hot Barrels has a barrel as well. It is the late style barrel (two-step) with the early mantlet, and resin muzzle-break.
I got that one for my Jagdpanther...
