Wow. Great job. I really like the cut off car and StuG to represent the rest of the train. Very well done! How about a Jerry Can cut in half with clear resin water in it?

I really like this diorama. It just POPS. Lots of action. I think you did a wonderful job on the groundwork and vehicle/railcar painting...but I LOVE the way you painted the Russian uniforms. You did an awesome job with them.
I just finished reading the book "Soldat" by Siegfied Knappe. He was a German Army officer in WWII. He talks a lot about loading and unloading entire divisions onto trains during the war. He also talks about incidents like this, at the end of the war, where the Russians encircled the area before the trains could depart. It's a great book for any student of WWII AND there are lots of diorama ideas in the book.
Thanks Ron..this is an awesome diorama. Looking forward to your next project.

Thanks Thomas. Cutting up the railcar and StuG were enough...
Thanks for the compliments, Bodeen; my next projects aren't so big; a few "simple" vignettes. I've had enough of the larger dioramas for a while, but there are 3 more on the shelf!
I think I should pick up that book and read it myself too!
I finished this one today!
The last figures are painted and added...
Here are the remaining pictures;
The diorama as a whole;
from the top;
The Sd.Kfz.251/22;
Rear side of the SdKfz 251/22;
The rear of the dio;

Wow, this is an amazingly epic diorama! I really like the back of the stug. One suggestion from me would be to turn the artillery piece a little bit to the side. When it's lined up with the rail car, it looks too "neat". That's just my input, but I could never make something so good, so don't think too much about it.
Looking Great!
