Dear all,

Need some help regarding a T55, last xmass i got one as a gift (yes Santa exist) and i was thinking about doing the beast as an Iraki one at 1st gulf war, but I have no idea of the modifications I have to do on the Tamiya's kit, paint scenes and/or markings. It will be my first atempt into modern armour. So I will appreciate a lot if someone could help me on this.

Cheers and happy modelling to all!!!

Hi!
I'm a huge fan of this beast!
ok...first of all...I(we) need to know what kind of build you want to do.Tamiya kit that you have is a great kit just OOB.So you can build it as it is and it is a good replica of the tank.Add sand paint and you'll obtain an iraqi tank.
This is the OOB build Not -accurate.
If you want to build it more detailed....welcome in a new universe!!
We now need to know which version you want to do...T-55a -T-55M - T-55Enigma?!Interim version?!or have you a photo of the tank that you want to do?!
Univers stars are Pe sets (aber, part, eduard, voyager)they fix some errors on the kit (not all)..you need also new tracks, gun barrels and so on..we have a tweak list from Andy Taylor about t-55 - t-54( i need to find it),..he's a master about this tank, you also need some scratch to fix other errors or to change configuration about engine deck, wheels, guading rail, fenders, turret, fuel lines ecc ecc
I don't want go beyond this few considerations. Please be more specific and I'll be happy to help you!!

Hi, thanks a lot.

Well I was thinking about a T55 A or M, i ordered an Aber barrel and I got the Modelkasten tracks and The Eduard's Grill PE... Do you think I should ordered the Aber PE set? I was pretending not to spend so much on it, Maybe with some Plasticard, and some other thing from here or there could be ok...

Anyway, i will accept any recomendation, Regarding Pics, If someone could send me some i will really apreciate that too. Cheers and happy modelling!!

yep.
For the "A" version the items that you have can be ok!Aber set ,as eduard or part are a good add.on but not necessary at all.
Take a look here for the list...it hasn't photos so if you need them let me know, give me youe mail (via PM) and I'll send you what you need.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47209/message/1228425480/T-55+Tweaks+list-+Work+in+progress

these are the principal modifications....if you go to aber site and download pdf for Aber set 1 you'll have an idea about the kind and the nubers of items that can be changed over the tank.
definitely aber set give you a good amount of details but it needs work.

For "M" version you need Blast model set....that Include correct details for this version,go to blast model home page, type T-55 and you'll find some products that can help you.
