I'm looking for a good online Hobby Shop. I have found a couple, but it seems the ones I have found don't keep a good supply on hand. And everytime I buy something it always takes forever until I get it. There is only 2 hobby shops in my area, and they are not very good. Just thought I would see if anybody could help me.

I'd have to say I've gotten the fastest service from Squadron, although their prices are often higher than other stores. I've been happy with service from greatmodels also.

Yeah I have seen their site b4. I haven't ordered anything from them, but I have seen that they are kinda high in price. That is why I haven't ordered from them before. But I guess if you want good service you have to pay a little for it

greatmodels is really good only problem is that they don't always have stock of what they say they do. Does that make sense? But you can monitor your order and have them ship what they do have. I aslo find that hey consistently hav echaeper prices form a few cents to dollars.

I have had good success with greatmodels: eventually gettting what I ordered at a good price. I am still a bit puzzled by their system of showing items in stock, but then having to search for them? It takes them a couple of days to process the orders, even when they are shown as in stock, and then about a week to arrive via UPS. That isn't a problem for me as I am not in a hurry for the items I order. I have also had good success with Hometown Hobbies, but that also takes time to get your order.

Hi
On the homepage there is a list of links to hobby shops.
For great prices and service, order from HobbyHQ in Australia. They have great deals, and although the exchange rate isn't as good as it was, US$ still buy a lot.
Greatmodels is good, but as the Godfather said, their listing of what's in stock is not accurate.
Squadron only lists what is in stock, and are a long time reputable dealer.
ModelExpo has limited product lines, but is very good.
DiscountHobbies is good too.
www.michtoy.com for good figure stuff.
www.discountmodels.com for great prices and service.
www.rjproducts.com is great too.
www.hometown-hobbies.com
If you have a question about a retailer in particular, post it here.
Who's bad?
Thus far, Plastzdarm has not come through with a big order to me.
Cheers
Andy

I have used and had good luck with Greatmodels.com, discountmodels.com, and missionmodels.com. Mission and discountmodels have great customer service, Greatmodels probobly has the best prices overall.

I ususally go with Squadron.com (great service!), greatmodels.com (wide selection even though it takes a while to get a completed order) and modelexpo-online.com (some really good sales deals from time to time). Don't forget checking on E-bay!

I use all of the above as well as Roll Models and discount hobby. I price search. If you've got to have it quick, Squadron is the place Period any place else is patience.

I concur...I especially like GreatModels and Rollmodels...they both price nearly the same. I have a subscription to Squadron and have dealt with Mission Models and R&J Productions as well...all very good sources. And Model Expo can be a deal as well.

Hey guys (and some gals),
I have several:
Hobby Link Japan
VLS
R & J but of course
There are a couple of others that I buy as needed, but not on a regular basis. For some reference material, RZM and ARMYBOOK are good sources.

Along with all the rest, I have also ordered from Hannants with good success. Response time was not too bad.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I buy almost all my stuff from the net as prices in the UK are just too expensive even for basic stuff. As I collect a lot of WWII russian stuff I use a lost of eastern block dealers as the prices are cheap. I have found Jadar to be the best online dealer I have ever used - it is rare to find his prices beaten elsewhere (almost all the guys in our ipms club use jadar for most things). Other places I have found to have good dealings/fast service are Royal Models, Hobbylink Japan, F&F (UK), Accurate Armor, Historex & JJ Fedorowicz. I almost never buy from the US as I have been stung on 2 occasions by reputable companies plus in the UK we very often get hit for customs duty which can often make stuff more expensive than the UK. Books I almost exclusively have imported as they are usually half price to the same books in the UK. I guess it depends on whether you are happy with dealing with places on the net. I also always use my credit card for ordering as you get a lot of help from the CC companies especially when dealing with non-appearance of promised goods etc.

I think my favorite is Hometown Hobbies. They have a really good selection, and great prices. They usuaally have most things in stock, and it only takes a few days to get my orders.

Does anyone ever use tower hobbies? I visit their site often and wondered if anyone has done business with them. They seem to have a huge inventory, I think their url is www.plasticmodels.com
