I've been working on an idea for a modern street diorama for awhile now, but ROTC and the holidays have kept me busy with work and friends. I decided to relax and have some time to myself to work. The general idea is a steet section with an Abrams, humvee, and a few infantrymen patroling.
I've never posted any progress photos here because i'm only 17 and fairly new to the hobby, and because i've never figured out how to work any cameras to take pictures without a flash. But today i figured out that my phone takes semi-decent pictures.
To start off I ordered the burnt out car from mig productions. Its my first resin kit so i was more cautious than usual. This picture came out a little blurry.
After a few hours of cleaning the pieces I washed and dry fit them.
Coat of Tamiya primer
Base coat
I used Fresh rust, light rust, standart rust, black smoke, and concrete to weather the interior of the car.
And I used tamiya paint and pigments to weather the exterior.
This is the rough idea i had for the diorama. With the car done i can start to weather the tank and humvee.

Eric,
You have the drive sprocket on the front and the idler road wheel mounted on the rear, these should be reversed!
Just thought you would want to know...

Nice layout and composition so far. The car came out well.
I know it's early, just don't forget rubble and 'stuff' on the right side of the dio to fill the empty road side

Nice begining Eric, good potential in your set up. Question, I have the mig car but as I look at it I think the bottom of the engine compartment needs to be cut out and some kind of axle added. Just looks too boxed in as it sits. I haven't really figured out what to do myself on the engine area yet .Are you going to put in the burnt seats? Just wondering how the tool worked out for you.

I wondered about the entire underside of the car, and the resin was too thick for me to bother to cut out enough space for a realistic axel. And as far as the seats go, I couldn't get the tool to work out at all. I got the outer frames shaped but the crimped springlike texture of the thin wire would not come out as it showed so i simply abandonned the concept.

Back from a month in Germany, and I decided to keep going with this idea. I saw the car and it looked plain, so I decided to repaint it. More to come soon, if I can find the time

Looking good so far. For the empty space around where the car is, it would look good with a low wall.
