Ahoy there. This is going to be my first dio and work/update blog..
My scenario: German Panzergrenadiers converging on a small (and battered) ranch somewhere in the Ardennes (Winter time).
I will be using these kits:
Thinking of including a Tiger tank into the mix, moving along the road with some panzer riders on it.
Comments, suggestions are most welcome. I'll be posting pics of the "barn/shack/garage" soon.

Very ambitious - good choice of figures - but I wonder if you are going to pick only some of them or use them all?
Be careful not to clutter the scene - define whats the story and then include whats needed to tell it.
Cheers/Jan

For the tamiya kit, I'll have to see.. 'Coz I haven't bought the kit yet. For the german snipers I'm not that sure yet. The area of the dio is quite large. I'll have to figure out what other possibilities can be applied.
The half-track will be next on my "to-buy list". As for now, I've built the frame of the run-down shack/barn/garage...
I'm doing some studies on the actual framework of the structure. (Trusses, beams, etc.)
More to come!... soon!

Made some little progress.. Built in the trusses for the "barn".
Also bought the half-track...
Painted the figure's faces..
Gonna need help on painting the half-track. Since the dio is set in the winter, what base coat should I apply?

Been very busy lately so here's an update:
Here's the halftrack.. still in progress.
Some shots of the dio (or whatever you call it... ) Figures are still in progress..
Here are some shots of the battered building. It doesn't look to battered at the moment, but I'll give it some beating before painting and detailing.
I changed some components of the original plan. This building is going sit on top of small hill or on a foot of a hill.
Comments are most welcome.

Are the cork pieces supposed to be bricks or stone? They are way to big for bricks and the gaps look quite large for stone.
Will the hill aspect (top or bottom) be modelled? Will we be able to see the elevation change? If so, that should be done now so you can get the idea of how your foundation will fit and also how you will get transitions to the road and how your figures will 'sit' on the ground. A position that sits well on a flat surface may not once it becomes slanted.

Quite right. I made some BIG mistakes and I'm planning to re-do the building. I just realized that the "bricks" were awfully too large, after I did a section of the building. The elevation will be shown, but I have to make a lot of adjustments. Prior to this, I deviated from the original plan and layout. I'll get to work on the building as soon as I get home.. Oh, I have the elevation done. But I don't think it fits the scene very well and I'll have to re-do it too.
By the way, thanks for commenting and the critique, Scott. Very much appreciated.

Using a "standard" UK brick as a base your bricks should be roughly 6.1 x 2.9 x 1.9mm (L x W x H)
Spacing between bricks should be about 0.3mm...
Hope you've got LOTS of time & patience

Thanks for that, Don. Don't worry I have lots of patience, but not enough free time!

I know the feeling m3orm5...
You'll probably find that it's easier (& faster) going for the stone look. If you think about it, what would a farmer build a barn out of? Readily available materials or brick that he'd have either to make or buy... My bet would be on stone
Good luck with this one M8, it's looking really good so far

Daunting task but nevertheless, it will keep me busy.
Anyway, just bought an additional kit for the dio. (Bought it during my lunch break, had to run back just to be on time. )
I bought this kit from Tamiya:
and I accidentally bought this one, because I wasn't looking close enough..
I can't use it due to the fact that it has balloon tires which was specifically used by the Afrika Korps in their desert campaigns.
