Chart Tape.
If you look in my gallery, the webbed seats in the M109 were made with it as well. Beats the heck out of cutting up strips of masking tape...

Why use masking tape? I use surgical tape. It is a nylon web tape. The webbing is so fine, it is perfect for 1/35 belts. It can be found at most hospital supply stores. The brand I use is made by McKesson.

Drafting tape (used for circuit boards) should works as well. It comes in various widths. I believe it's quite similar to chart tape...

By the way, because it comes in different widths, Chart Tape can be used for a variety of things -- rubber seals around hatches for instance.
