Heres something ive been working on and off the past few months in between university, and all the other projects I have on the go.
This is the Tamiya Challenger 2 backdated to an early version, depicting an OPFOR vehicle at the CATC (combined arms training center) Ive used resin parts from AA to backdate, as well as eduard etch and a few small scratch build details.
Enjoy the pics!

Excellent Rob. Nice use of parts from AA. I want to build a Challenger with skirts removed as well. is this going to be green?

Very nice work Rob.
Don't forget the antislip on the rings around the loader and commanders hatches.

That's a lot of anti-slip. Very nice.
What do you use for the barrel sleeve? It looks like foil. Are the skirt mounts in the AA set?

Thanks for the comments guys!
As to the color, it will be in two tone Salisbury training ground colors (roughly sand a green)
Shaun-Thanks for pointing out the anti slip on the commanders hatch ring, I forgot about that!
Paul-The barrel sleeve is just the foil packaging from a set of scalpel blades (its a little thicker than kitchen foils, and less prone to tearing!) As to the side skirt mounts, they are indeed from the AA set. I do believe that some of these parts might be included in Trumpeters KFOR chally kit.

Nice work Rob! I like the sand and green cammo of Salisbury; reminds me of BATUS.
One point - check the white balance setting on your camera, it looks really blue on my monitor.

More updates to my ongoing builds!
Nothing new done to the actual Chally, but I have been working on the DFWES devices. Using references from primeportal and a bit of guess work I have come up with these:
They are cared out of lumps of Alpine Miniatures scrap resin (if anyone has any of these cast blocks please please contact me) Alpine resin is very easy to carve and sculpt, so I just used the Mk1 eyeball and worked out the sizes based on pics, and they are as accurate as I could get them. Still a lot of work to do. The loud speaker is basically done, whilst the sensors need the correct size lenses added. These will be molded and copies made which will obviously have all the wiring and mounts added to them. Also to give you an idea of the size im working on with these, they are about the size of a 1/35 head!

Thanks Paul. I hadnt planned on making the DFWES commercially available (my skills are no where near up to that standard) but I guess if a few people are interested in these sensors I could sort something, they need some tweaking yet!

Rob this is a very beautiful looking build. Would you be so kind as to share with us your technique for applying the anti slip so neatly?

From what and how was the anti slip coating made? Airbrushing Mr. Surfacer 500?

Thanks for the kind comments guys, pleased you like the model. Its currently sat languishing on my shelf so maybe I should get working on it again...
Anyway as to the anti slip questions, I simply masked off parts that didnt need a coating using masking tape and blu tac and airbrushed the Mr Surfacer 500 on. Some people like to brush it on but this looks far to over scale in my view. Be sure to try and use an old AB if you have one, if not just make sure you have plenty of white spirit to hand to clean the AB after use, cos trust me this Mr Surfacer is tough to clean out. You might want to thin the Mr Surfacer as well using a little drop of thinners depending on how coarse you want the texture.

Yes, please do pick up the project. I have a pair of Tamiya Chally 2's and your build is helping inspire me to work on mine in the near future.
