As I've just started back up in this hobby, my spares box is rather empty right now. That said, I'm wondering if there are any good weapons kits out there. I know there used to be an old Tamiya set that had both US and German pieces. Just didn't know if there was something newer, maybe similar to the Gen2 Dragon pieces, but just the weapons and equipment.
Otherwise, maybe I'll just post up in the classifieds section.

IMO, there's NOTHING out there which is vaguely close to the Gen II Weapons & Equipment sets...
The Tamiya sets are reasonable - not brilliant but o.k.

And to my knowledge, those are not available by themselves, correct?

Indeed. The last three years at Nuremberg, I was pestering everyone from the owner to the office cat for them to release them seperately. As can be seen from their current lists - no joy...

Hi Jesse
If your interested in the "old" Tamiya weaponsset (German) I do have an almost intact set somewhere ( That's - the mines and MG 42 ammoboxes). I can mail them to you in an envolope, and hope for the best.

Thanks Jacob. I only one I'm seeing is kit 35111. If that's the case, I believe my LHS actually has one still in stock. I was just seeing if there were additional options.

From what I've observed, Tamiya's boxed German weapons set is an older one, from the 1970s, while the two bagged sets (there's an "early" and "late" set around) are from the mid-1990s. Needless to say, the newer ones have better detail and moulding quality.
I got the older set (#35111) in my stash and it's okay. Not as good as Dragon's regular ("gen1) weapons though, but not that much.
If you happen to come across Dragons two German weapon sets (3809 & 3816), get 'em! Good stuff, though they can be somewhat hard to find since they're currently out of production.

Tamiya released a US and a German set, DML released a US set, and I believe Italeri also released a german set. To the best of my knowledge all these are still available.
