Hi all,i am about to start on a hobbyboss leopard 2 a6ex.I assumed that the kit I would be building was that represented on the box art however after reading the instructions it would appear that you end up with a strv 122(swede) although I note there are extra parts on the sprue to make a German leopard but no instructions on which parts to replace other than the obvious ones also the decal sheet has only German markings. Can anyone assist.I am quite happy tomake either variant but dont want to mis represent them.

One of the differences with the STRV122 is the longer gun barrel. I'm pretty sure other members will add more.

The STRV 122 has the French GALIX smoke dispensers. These SHOULD NOT be used on the 2A6EX which has standard 76mm Leopard smoke launchers.

The instruction sheet definately makes up the strv 122, Galix, rectangle headlights etc,It appears that they have included 2 extra sets of smoke dischargers, sets of 6 are polish? only the 1 barrel L55 I think, still very confusing.

Paul the STRV 122 doesn't have the APU either.
You could make the kit into the Swedish machine, but I suggest you look at a few of the build logs about to make sure it's reasonably accurate.
You could also do the Winter Camo which is awesome
PM me your e-mail and I'll send you an article I have on a nice build out there
Cheers

The german a6 looks to be an upgrade of the a5 with the round headlamps I was sure the a6ex was an export model only and not in service with Germany,Looking at pictures this kit could represent the Spanish variant also, the box art is completely different to the plastic on the inside.

I think the closest to the Leopard 2A2EX is the Spanish Leopard 2E. For the Strv122 the kit would have to have the Swedish rear turret bins as well as the smoke launchers previously mentioned.

Leopard 2A6 EX
It is worth noting that the 2A6 EX has not formally entered service with any nation, and only one vehicle was ever modified to this configuration. The modifications were performed by KMW (as a private venture) to demonstrate the range of upgrades available for the Leopard 2. It can be said that the Leopard 2E (manufactured under license in Spain) and the Leopard 2A6 HEL (manufactured under license in Greece) are both based on modifications first applied to the 2A6 EX demonstrator.
Hobby Boss 82403
this kit is really just the Strv-122 with the L55 gun and the under armour APU housing ... the detail differences between the Strv-122 and the 2A6EX are not represented in this kit
Leopard 2E (Spain)
Hobby Boss 82432
this kit is the previously released 2A6EX with Spanish decals included ... it isn't really an accurate depiction of the Leopard 2E
the only vehicle that this kit may come close to depicting is the 2A6EX demo vehicle that was repainted in Spanish colours to participate in a 2002 parade in Madrid"
