Hi Gary. Very nice scene. I like the dynamics of the uphill attack. A little symmetrical with plants evenly speard on each side, but otherwise .. excellent. Could you please explain how you made the plants .. they look great.

Gary,
Cool dio dude. Your plants are really well done. Your Marines seem a little too green to me but regatdless, I think you have done a great job with this!

Looks good to me!
What did you make your base from? At first glance it looks like carved stone (obviously what you were going for) but in the close ups I'm pretty sure its foam? Also, how did you do your engraving?

thanks for all the comments
Frank - this is all that I used for the vegitation and then just painted

don - this is the base, with a bit of broken up plaster, air claying clay and sand. The engraving is just simple letter that you used to make greeting cards etc...

It looks great! The only thing is, I can't say I really like the position of the Sherman - it looks like it is going to slide off the base! But, it seems that this is just me, judging from the other comments, so, hats off to you!

Yo Gary,
Great work, nice setting.
Very dynamic scene....figs are well painted.
One little point ore my two cent, maybe the vegetation in some more different shades of green, muth more brighter.
Great work mate!

Very good realization
I think that could change colors of plants, all have the same shade of green
and also make a fingerprint for the caterpillars of the car and are more buried in his field

I really like the dio. I particularly like the beach gradient and sand. The vegitation is excellent as well!
The only comment I would make is that with the tamk that close on their heels, the Marines would be scrambling to get out of the way. The tank is buttoned up and is not likely to be able to see them...the Marines would know that and move to the side quickly.
Another possibility that might be a bit more realistic would be to reverse positions and place the tank higher on the beach with the infantry following close behind.

2005 til now to finish?
I already commented on the tank;

What are you on about Bob, the date he joined?
Really good job Gary!
Those look like aquarium plants... am I right?
I'd second the comments about shading them slightly differently to each other, only to create a feeling of depth though

Domi's comment about making the tank "sink" in a little more is also valid... especially on the piece of beach that it's already passed over.

This dio sure does look good!
I have some suggestions to break up the bright sandcolour and add "life" to it.
Give your plants various green washes and highlights. That should make them stand apart, but also add grasses and twigs on the ground between them.
This way you tone down the brightness of the sand, but also add more realism to the scene. Befor you do, a wash of brwon on the sand gives that more life, too.
A few simple steps that will enhaNce this great piece of work even more!

thnaks for the comments.
dono and the other guys,--yeap I will have to try and sink the tank a bit. It did lay flat unitil I laid the foliage, will have to try and cut some of the plastic foliage a bit and when I get chance try and give somemore foliage tone
most of the foliage I just bought from a general store that sells home products. Yeap and some from an aquarium foliage
Ron - never though of adding twigs and a brown wash may give a try
Bob= I made the tank in 2007 and then decided to have children. So now all previous finished models I am just making dio's for. So starting to make a very very very slow come back.
