Guys,
I just picked up the new Avenger and to tell you the truth, save your money and get the MR Models conversion kit. Same HUMMER kit with same old tires. Its not a reboxed kit. I compared it to the conversion kit and to the new HUMMER book from Concord. Its "OK" for a Desert Storm Hummer, but the turret is inaccurate for an IFOR Avenger. Plus, the decal are incorrect and they dont even give you an IFOR decal. I was really disappointed. You would think by now that Italeri would correct some of he down falls of their HUMMER kits.

Thanks for the heads up, I am planning on building one of these in the future. What kit would you suggest I get to add the MR Models conversion kit to. And secondly, If I did want to build a desert storm version would the new kit work out well for that or would you still go with the conversion?
P.S. that concord book is pretty nice huh. Are the rest of the concord books that good?

The best HMMWV kit on the market is the Academy kit and its various boxings (M1025, M966, M998, M997). Originally priced in the $20+ range, they can be found on line at places like eBay, Missing Links Flea Market, or Hyper Scale's Plane Trading for very little money (Thanks for the heads up, I am planning on building one of these in the future. Little disappointing as I've already got one on the way.... Been waiting for it for so long too!
Oh well, I'll see how bad it really is, and what'll it take to bring it up to snuff...

Drew,
Its good for a Desert Storm vehicle.
As for the concord books, the new series are great. So far i have the ones on the M1, British Challenger, British Warrior, German Leopard, German Wheeled Vehicles, and now the HUMMER. A must in any bodies library.
I agree with Rob, Academy's HUMMER's are the best, if you can get one. If not, the Italeri HUMMER's are ok. Get a set of aftermarket tires and photo etch set, and your good to go. If you find it, Verlinden had an awsome set for a M1025 HUMMER. All though it was made for a weapons carrier, it still had a lot of goodies for any varient.

Grey,
Its kind of hard to explain without showing some pictures. If you had the new HUMMER book from Concord, you would see the differences. The large box on the backis a tool box. Also, there are some pictures in the book that shows a Vehicle in Bosnia sporting the IFF panels. I wish I had a scanner, so I can scan in some of the pictures for you.
Lets see if i can explain. On the Italeri kit, on the backof the turret, there is a large box with two fans one on each side. Well in the pictures of the ones in Bosnia dont carry that box on them. Just like the MR kit. Like before, the Italeri kit is missing the remote control unit and the MR kit has it. That is an essential part of the model that is missing.
