Hi guys,
First post in Armorama. I have a mostly built old Italeri LAV Mortar. Started this buid many years ago and it's been on the shelf since, lot's to do, fill ejector marks etc etc. I have just received after much searching an old Eduard etch set for the kit. So I'm going to strip off some off the plastic details and detail it up with etch.
I have also acquired from amazon for a bargain price the Concord mini color series LAV & PIRANHA the extended family book. According to that book the first upgraded LAVs were delivered Oct '07, so I have the option of using the old Italeri variant for anything prior to that or am I wrong?
I am tempted to do the BPUP armour upgrade in styrene, but would anyone have decent pics of this package in order to scratch it? All the pics in the book are pretty cluttered with kit so hard to see the breakdown of this armour plates, sections, lines, curves etc? I guess I can use AFV clubs new Stryker upgrade set for all the new antennaes etc?
I think upgradidng this basic kit with the etch and some styrene will be pretty good fun? Lot of help needed with pics of those BPUP set ups though, and DUKE and other antennae, SLEP exhausts etc? If I do go with the BPUP upgrade, I will need those newer wider tyres, any recomendations? Here is where I am now:
Any and all help very much appreciated guys!

Hi Glen,
I started building an LAV-C2 with BPUP today, using Trumpeters LAV-C2 and the new LAV-25 A2 for BPUP. But when you go for scratchbuilding, try http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g78/onelimey/LAV%20A2 . Okay, its the LAV-25 A2
in detail. but it should help you with layout of the armor plates.
Have fun

Hi Hans,
Thanks for the support mate! That link is fantastic, it may be a different LAV but from what I can make out the BPUP is almost the same as on the LAV-M? Obviously some differences around the turret base protrusion on the left hull side but apart from that?! Absolutely great pics, these will be great as I can't find plans etc, so the MarkOne eyeball will be the way to go.
Cheers mate,
Glen

Hi Glen,
I think the basic layout is similar for LAV vehicles on the front. I used these pics to build my LAV-25 A2 from scratch a while ago and it still looks great. I think that you won`t find any plans on the BPUP, it`s still too hot to get that informations.
Enjoy the building
