Gary - I always like your memories. Yep, the 175 was good at scaring the excrement out of everyone around. That was the best mission the 175 carried out...the H&I mission (harassment and interditcion). If you were observing a 175 round, it always had the freight train coming sound!!

Thanks again

Rounds Complete!!

I did a road march once right down the middle of the Que Son Valley, and three 175's shot about a half mile in front of us every hour or so. Reminded me of an F4 at 300 feet off the ground! But if you think that's scarey try 16" rounds at max range!! I'd swear it takes four or five minutes to get there, and from the time the guy comes on the fire push to tell you that the rounds are out it still scares you to death! I was ready for Prozac after the first Arc Light Mission that was 4000 yards out. Never saw it comming!

Just a note about Ross. Was a big base camp located at the mouth of the Que Son Valley. My base camp was located about ten miles due south. Carlos Hathcock was shot up about fifteen klicks due east of the place where the road goes into a "Y." I hated that road!
There was a big sign at the start (High Way One) that had the 23rd Psalm written on it. But it was easy compaired to a drive thru the hook on a sunny afternoon
