Hi
All the 1/35 U.S. plastic jerry cans I have (Tamiya, Italeri, Academy...) have a flat bottom. But many reference pics show cans with some bulges on it (a bit like a Lego brick) maybe to strenghen it. Are there different models of cans or is it a weak point of the market 1/35 cans ? As I have planned to make some casting I'd prefer to cast accurate cans
TIA

you know i never gave it much thought but you are right -its a over sight on the makers part because every water can that i have used over the past 13 years have had the bulges good luck with your casting

Are you sure they are the plastic ones? I have some from a Tamiya M1 (Yea I know it is old) and they depict the older metal water cans? The plastic ones do however neen the bulges on the bottom.

Yes they are. Most of them come from "modern accessories" sets issued by these manufacturers. The instructions said that they were to be painted black but I have been told it's no more appropriate nowadays. I am still looking for a pic clearly showing the bottom of these cans (maybe someone in charge of a motor pool... ) as well as a 1/35 modern U.S. fuel can (with 3 handles and a kind of big "O" stamped on each side)...

Well I have been out for awhile but I can see if some old friends at Ft Huachuca can get some pictures of the ones they use now? Last ones I remember in service were the Tan ones as the black ones were being phased out at least in Desert Areas? Of course I retired almost 10 years ago and things do change? I will see if I can get you the shots you need.
