Good evening from Germany gents,
I'm having a problem with the HobbyBoss RAM/RS tracks.
The 84 track links per side mentionend in the instructions were definitely too long so i shortend them with the result that the connectors didnt hold the track links together when I tried to assemble them to the kit.
After that I think I made the big mistake and got on to the tracks with simple plastik glue of revell of germany.
The glued dried slowly as I wished it to and the tracks seemed to be in the right place.
After approx 5 mins they fell of the running gear and all ended up to a big mess after another half an hour of trying to fit them to the running gear.
So I'm asking you if I should go for the AFV big foot tracks or the ones by Friulmodel and how I'm going to put fit them to the kit without them result as last time
Thanks in advance
Alex

Alex,
I have both the AFV and Fruil sets. The AFV set are snap together and the Fruil set uses a pin that holds the tracks together.
On my AAVP7 I used the AFV tracks and they look great. What I did was carfully wrapped them around the road wheels and drive sprocket and then used Tenax on the bottom track and around the drive sprocket and idler wheel. I left the top loose so it would sag naturaley. The snap on them is pretty good and came aport only a couple of time when placing them on the vehicle.
Hope this helps out in your decision.

The AFV Club tracks are very nice. I recommend them.
They are separate link plastic tracks that snap together and hold quite well. Here is a review of them at PMMS. Perth says they don't fit any of the kit sprockets, however, I find they fit the Hobby Boss, Tamiya, Dragon, and Academy sprockets just fine. I'm not sure why he couldn't get them to fit.

Why? If you are trying to make the same point you were in that thread, you are still wrong. The AFV Club tracks are correct for the Hobby Boss AAVP7A1.
As we said there, go with the AFV Club tracks.

Is the AFV track appropriate for all Hobbyboss AAV7A1's, or only the AAV7A1 RAMS/RS version?

They can be used on any AAVP7A1 representing a vehicle from the mid-'90s forward. The newer, square-block track started being installed about '95 or so. They can be installed on either the older suspension or the newer RAMS/RS suspension.

Thanks for the info, Gino. I'm definitely going with the AFV tracks.

I think I'll go for the AFV tracks.
The review at PMMS sounds quite good and I hope that I'll get them fixed to the running gear.
Thanks for your comments gents !
Have a nice day !
Cheers alex
