Hi,
Anyone know an FS match for the interior color used on M113s and Bradleys? Also possibly AAV7A1. Sky Type 'S' looks close, but the color (Sea Foam?) seems to be a little pale. I've got a (dried up) jar of Lifecolor FS34558 that looks about right, but after my experience with the paint (did I mention it's a solid lump?) I'm hoping there's another alternative.
On a related note - interior color for the LVTP5A1, anybody? I've got the Hobby Fan interior kit for the AFV Club kit, and it recommends some weird mix that, at a guess, comes out somewhere between a pale khaki and...cacky, I guess. I suspect it's inaccurate.
Now if anything seems to be likely to be standardized it's the interior color of these vehicles - produced in large numbers, interiors generally don't get repainted in the field, etc. So I'm hoping somebody will be able to help.
Al

FS24558 is the right color for M113s, Mortar tracks were painted O.D. (FS34086 or 34087).Bradleys and such. I remember from my Army days that M60s had gloss white interiors.
Go with Model Master Acryl or Polly Scale paints. Vallejo Model Color paints, unless used on a primed surface, tend to scrape easily.

So it *is* FSx4558. Now that's frustrating - three variations on 34558 exist - Humbrol 23, Lifecolor UA116 and Tamiya XF-21. I've got the last two of these (well, the Tamiya XF-21 and a dried-up bottle of UA116) and they're different colors. Subtly different, but the Lifecolor paint looks right, while Tamiya XF-21 looks like...well, Sky Type 'S'. Have to check the Humbrol color - since they call their shade "Duck Egg Blue" it's presumably distinct from their Sky Type 'S'.
The perfect solution would be if White Ensign's WWII Italian Colors included the color - Lifecolor's UA116 is labeled as "Italian Interior Green". I love working with WEM's enamels thinned with Mr Leveling Color Thinner. Spray multiple thin coats is a very pleasant experience. Has to be applied over a lacquer primer - I use Alclad's grey primer/microfiller - but it's a "hot" mixture with none of the weaknesses of acrylics.
Anyway, thanks for the answers - think I might go bother John at WEM to see if they've any plans to add the color to the range, now that I know the correct FS :-)
Cheers,
Al
