Hello fellow modellers
i have commenced building Tamiyas King tiger Tiger II "Konigstiger" and plan to display it in a diorama.
My question is were these tanks used in any particular part of the European theater of war ie. Later part of the war 44-45, in france, belgium, russia etc ???
and what would be the best set of figures to have set alongside this tank preferably dragon ???
or does anyone know any good websites i can study to assist me ??
regards

King Tigers were not introduced until 1944 and served on both eastern and western fronts, but I do not think they were used in Italy. The Ardennes campaign (eg Battle of the Bulge) is one from which they were certainly well known, and for which a lot of pictures exist.
I believe the Tamiya kit is for a fairly late 1944 version, but I could be wrong. As for troops to accompany it if you are placing your diorama in the Ardennes, any Germans in late war cold weather gear would suffice. You will find that Dragon produce two sets of Fallschirmjaegers to make up the entire group of such troops who were well photographed riding on the back of a King Tiger numbered 222. Numerous people have made this scene over the years.
I think from memory Dragon also produce a set of Volksturm troops, who were certainly used in lareg numbers in the Ardennes.
I've made several KTs, so if I can be of any further help, please let me know.
