Hello, All,
I'm getting ready to paint the Tamiya Marder IIIr as an Afrika Corps vehicle. Can anyone recommend a mix of Tamiya colors to obtain a good shade of DAK yellow? And for that matter the Gray color that lies beneath it?
Thanks a bunch!!
Aloha,
Johnny B

Johnny,
Tamiya XF-60 is a good match for Dunkelgelb. Not sure which one is the best match for Panzer Grey - anyone????

I also use Tamiya's XF-60 (Dark Yellow) for the yellow. It's pretty close and I really like using the Tamiya paints with my airbrush. It covers really well. I have also used the Poly Scale Panzer Dark Yellow but I find that it has a bit too much of a green tinge to it.

Model Master makes a good panzer gray. Use it as your base then streak it over with the Afrika color of your choice. You want to show a little wear and tear on the vehicle, especailly at the bottom. Sand blasting doncha know.

Hi Corporal
I think the colors you mean are Afrika Braun 1942, and Afrika Dunkelgrau 1942, also there is Panzer Schwarzgrau (very dark grey) 1939-1943. All are available in enamels and acrylics from Testors Model Master line of paints and requires no mixing.
As for mixing, I usually won't if I don't have to, so don't know.
Good luck!
