BA-64 is one of the vehicles I've waited for and we have got now in plastic offered finally from Vision Models. I've ordered my BA-64 (Vision Models) from Lucky Models two days ago.

Although BA-64 was intended for WWII, it has found its way thru Korean War as well. I've found an interesting photo of a BA-64 captured and used by US 21st Infantry during Korean War under US markings. I think it would be an interesting subject to replicate.

Image caption "BA-64B armored car was used in small numbers by NKPA armored units for scouting. After removing its turret, fenders and driver's armored visor, the 21st Infantry put this example back to work." from the book: Armor in Korea.

I would be pleased if anyone has additional info/photo etc. about the Big-6 and post it here.

On the other hand please share info&images about BA-64s in conflicts other than WWII.

it looks cool isn't it? But I've still not decided whether to finish the BA-64 like this or do it with the fenders, turret, etc.

I seem to remember that this vehicle was used just for funning around in the back areas (as a buggy or something), thus the removed front armor and fenders. Don't know where I got it from, could be my grandfather telling me about it (he is a Korean War veteran of the 2nd ID).

Cheers!

My BA-64 from Vision has arrived

It's a tiny car.. It seems it has to wait awhile until I clear my workbench from other kits.

I have seen this photo before or one that is similiar. The name "Big 6" is named after the 21st Infantry Regimental Commander Colonel Stephens. That was his nickname, "Big 6." Gimlet is the 21st Inf. Regt. nickname. The 21st Infantry fought in the first battle of the Korean War called Task Force Smith.

I'm a fan of this vehicle myself. I don't know much about it but for some reason I just like it. I've also been trying to find pictures of it in use post-WW2 and I would love to see some NKPA versions. The little US one is a great find though. The only one I managed to come across on the net was a picture of the rear of the vehicle rotting in a musuem in Sarajevo.

Reviving an old thread here! I've just gotten hold of an old AER set of this model, and I'd like to do the one depicted in US markings. Does anyone have any more info or pics of this beast?

Hi John

I have several pictorial histories of the Korean War, incl. at least two dedicated to armor and I have seen nother pics of this vehicle. Sorry!

Cheers!
