Heard from what I'd consider a fairly reliable source that Bronco were happy enough with the sales of their A13 Cruiser Tank kits that they've started looking into "filling the gap" and are researching the subject of the A13 Mk V, aka Covenanter, and its various versions. Anybody know more about this one?
This'd certainly be a welcome addition to their range - I know Cromwell do resin Covenanters, but injection-molded kits with correspondingly low pricing would be very nice. There'd presumably be some interesting marking options too - they were never used in combat, but training tanks often end up in rather interesting schemes for exercises.

Hello Al,
I am one of the people who has been buying the Bronco A13 line but to be honest I wouldn't be interested in a Covenanter. While it is an interesting vehicle, the fact it never saw any combat does put me off. Others may feel differently but I wonder if Bronco might be better served looking at an A9 or A10 or both? Those tanks are I know very different to the A13s but they SEEM to share a turret at least.
Anyway, if Bronco do make a Covenanter good luck to you, at least it is an early Allied tank. Personally I am hanging out for one of the French tanks. (He's dreamin')
Cheers,
TimTam27

Yes, the turret looks similar to the A13 Mk I at least. I'm still hoping for a Covenanter, but I'd then be hoping for an A9 and A10 to follow as well Then all you need is a conversion for the Tamiya Cromwell to turn it into a Cavalier (Cromwell Models do one, but AA have indicated they might consider it for those of us who don't want to deal with Cromwell's vagaries) and you'd be able to model the full run of Cruiser tanks, Mk I thru Mk VIII.
The Covenanter, despite never seeing combat (as a gun tank, anyway), is still a pretty important tank. Given the sheer number of them built, the majority of British tankers must have learned to, uh, tank on them - there were, after all, over 1700 of them built. It's also a tremendously sleek beast, even more so than the Crusader.
I figure that a Covenanter, followed up by an A9 and A10, along with a Cavalier conversion and the forthcoming Miniart Valentines, leaves just the Matilda I and the various Light tanks in resin. Oh, and I guess you have to include the Medium Mk II and IIA - ancient though they were, they did see service in the middle east. Hmm, and maybe the Avenger should be included too. Still, the Avenger is definitely available in resin.
Anyway, once those are done, British home-built armor of WWII will be pretty much covered, which is a huge move forward from a few years back. Then I'll have to see who can be persuaded to do an injection-molded Sentinel

I'm surprised none of the UK folks have chimed in yet. (I'm only a transplant...) I'll happily take a Covenanter and hope the rest of the Cruisers get kitted too. However, I'd like to see them spread a bit to ease the wallet-damage, and if possible done in an "un-limited run" so I don't have to rush out and grab them before they disappear!
When will we know if the rumour becomes fact? At the moment I don't want to build my hopes up.
And a Sentinel? Where'd I leave that Holy Grail...

I would love to see a Covanenter. it might not have seen combat as a gun tank, but at least it actually got made, which is more than you can say for all the paper panzers kitted!
The best thing about seeing a covenanter in plastic is that a new Crusader might be not far behind Considering the basic kit behind the italeri ones is nearly 40 years old we could sure do with one!

I do like the more unusual / lesser known tanks, and on that basis I'd be more than happy to see an injection-moulded Covenanter, if and when it becomes a reality.
