Hi,everybody, this is my first time to put my work on armorama, and I'm glad to communicate with friends from all around the world.

It's a M270 MLRS from Dragon kits, and it sucks ,I made it out of box ,just plus some rations.
I use Gunze Color 45#(sail color)+a little yellow to paint the sand color.

The flatter box was the one used in ODS.

I can see that you are knowledgeable on MRE types and what and where they were used . But let me share with you what happened on my watch pertaining to field rations. When on the USS FDR CVA 42 , year 1971, the ship changed its emergency rations 30 day supply for 4,000 , from the old WW 2 C rations to the then fairly new MREs . We ate canned rations till we exploded. . My question is would a unit use what they have and not neccessarily what the norm is for the time ? If this is the case, any type MRE might be seen being used by troops. ........As for the model, I can say that it looks very good. Nice job........Al............PS.....Why do you think this model sucks ? I have one to build and wonder why you did not like it. The photos look real good you did a nice job no matter what.

MREs were first introduced in the early '80s. By the time of ODS ('90-'91), there were no more C-Rations left in the supply system. MREs were the only ration available, with the exception of Kosher meals, that looked different.

He has MRE boxes, just not the type available/used in ODS. The boxes he has on it are post-ODS.

Didn't know that.....I thought they were used in Viet Nam before then. Those C rations we ate were peaked out on their shelf life.

OK, so now that I went to Wikipedia and read up, it seems that 81 was the year that they first used MREs extensively. I must have been confused with the similar LRPs that they had in the sixties. All I can say is that those canned rations were for the most part , not so great..........Al

Thank you guys, you let me know lots of things.
At beginning, these MRE ration boxes are what I preparing for my OIF vehicles,
But I saw this wonderful work ,there has one kind of ration boxes, just looks like the OIF's,so I put them on

And to Mr.Vaccaro:
The reason I feel it sucks, just because the parts are no easy to fit together, especially the rocket pods are so hard to put into the launcher loader module.

I guess its a matter of opinion and/or experience. I have built a bunch of these as farewell gifts for commanders and such. I think it is a great kit. It can be a little tricky, but with some work, can be an excellent model. If care is taken and you sand down the parts a little, the launch pods and LLM are pretty striaght forward assemblies with no real issues.

Well.....Niceshot, reguardless of the hard fitting parts, you did a very nice job of painting them. No need to be upset with your build...the models look great. Nothing really great is ever easy, so I'm told.........Al

Excellent job. Glad you decided to share with us. Many years ago, I built an @$$load of these for Lockheed Martin Missile Division, and I have to say, yours is the nicest I've seen. The weathering is first rate. Just retitle it. Although there was not a uniform color for the ODS, your color looks spot on for modern CARC sand. Then you can leave your MRE boxes as they are as well.
