Hi all, I am currently building a Dragon Smart Kit T19 105mm Howitzer Carrier and wondered if anyone knows the following:
a.What colour (s)are the shells/ammo?
b. Also, the kit shares components with the other half-track variants, including a radio, which I would very much like to use. Does anyone know if one was ever fitted to the T19? If so, where, what colour(s) should it be and what detailing is required?
Strange how you start off with a little query and before you know you've got hundreds of questions!!
Thanks all!

Check this thread (page 2) for info on 105mm ammo. And yes, it was the same ammo in Vietnam and WWII and for the M108 SP 105mm.
As to the radio, I'm not sure they were equipped with them since artillery batteries relied more on field phones with wire since it was more reliable. If they were used, the radio would be OD Green and mounted along the side wall behind the passenger seat (thats where it was in other halftracks anyways).

From the top of my mind and without checking references the ammo should be olive drab with yellow lettering and a silver tip (the fuse). Of course the casings are brass. I could be wrong though...
In the research for my review I didn't find a radio mentioned, so the answer to the second question would be no. Of course they could have used a smaller radio or fitted one in the field.
Please post some pics of your build!
Cheers!

Thanks v.much for the info guys. I will check out the links. With regard to photos Stefan, I'm struggling (with both my T19 knowledge AND...) a rubbish digital camera! Hopefully, I'll get this sorted soon and at least get some pics of the completed model when done!
Thanks again

Actually, during the time the T19 saw service, before being replaced, the HE rounds would still have been black with yellow markings. Later during the war the switch was made to OD with yellow markings.
