Not sure if anyone will be able to help me again with this, but is there anywhere I can get information about:
ARNs and call signs for the Australian 1st Armoured Regiment - specifically M1A1 "Bundaberg" (C/S 22?)
What colour the C/S panels are/will be for Australian M1A1s camouflaged in DPP
Will the red kangaroo mark on the cartridge box remain with the DPP (I have noticed that some of the ASLAV FOV on active service tend to have the red kangaroo mark smeared with local soil/mud pressumably by the crews)
I have been trawling the internet looking for information and images - most seem to be the older ADF publicity images of the desert scheme as originally delivered.
Any advice on the above would be appreciated.

The biggest problem with doing anything Australian is the fact that C/S change all the time. They are never the same C/S for a particular ARN for too long.
Your best bet would be to trawl through the Defence Web site.
http://www.defence.gov.au
But you will not find anything at all to do with the three tone camo. It is only a trial at the moment and only a couple of cars have had it done. At this stage if the trial goes ahead, the TAC markings would be white. Same style as they were on the AS1.

This is a drawing I did of the three tone based on information that I had received from sources.
Cheers Jason

Thanks for the information, Tony and Jason. I'm grateful for every bit of information I can get.
Hypothetically, do you think the colour of call sign markings on Australian MBTs would differ when used in training versus operational environments?

Properly not. As the tanks role would not change I doubt the C/S would.
Colour wise, no. If, and that is a big "IF", they deployed overseas I suppose it would depend on where they are. MEAO, stay Tan with black TAC signs. The only part that would change would be over the radio net C/S.

There was a photo of the first vehicle to receive the three-tone camo in the ADF publication Army - The Soldiers' Newspaper, Archives are available at the ADF site in PDF format.
Look at the November 26, 2009 issue (#1226) and the December 10 Issue (#1227)
My information is that this was an interim/test scheme and the vehicle has by now been repainted with less black "slabs".
