The Barrel Depot The Barrel Store makes a barrel for the M48A5 (you will need the 105mm), and Eduard makes photo etch for it (#35230). Somewhere is an engine compartment, I can't remember who does it. I was bidding on one for an M60 just recently too. I know my local shop carried them when they first came out.

I believe the manufacturer for the engine compartment is Model Valley. They did an M1A1 engine and compartment as well as an M60 engine and compartment. I think it is also labeled for use in the M48. Was quite pricey, around $45.

Hey Rob and Pony,
It is now Legend Productions that does the engines for the M1, M60, and M48. They also have anaccessory set for each vehicle too, with lots of goodies. Try going to Squadrons web sight or Legends web sight to see a better picture.

That's it, thanks Pete. I was going to run down to the local shop to see the name of the manufacturer. Now I don't need to...oh wait, I still need to pick up the M41 barrel. Too bad, I still need to go

My local shop has the Legends M48A3 engine #LF1032 for $50. Very pricey!

Rob,Pete

I there any difference in the main battery caliber in the earlier models of the M48?
There appears to be three possible options in building this
My inital research yields some pics of korea they very fuzzy , this kit offers the
option of skirts which I dont plan on using

Thanks

Yes, the M48 was armed with a 90mm main gun. The M48A5 was upgunned with the L68 105mm main gun, same as on the M60, M60A1, M60A3 and M1/M1IP.
The armament goes:
M48--90mm
M48A1--90mm
M48A2--90mm
M48A2C--90mm (used mainly by W. Germany)
M48A2GA2--105mm (W. Germany upgunned some of their M48A2Cs)
M48A3--90mm
M48A4--proposed mounting of M60A2 turrets on M48A1 chassis, never materialized
M48A5--105mm
