Planning to build a M1145 FAC Hummer, and wondering about whether it has a weapons turret installed in theater? Pics on Prime Portal show it without, but it also looks like it is not in theater either. I also have pics at McChord AFB airshow posed with an M1130 Stryker without turret. Looking for OIF info. Can anyone help?

I was mistaken...I don't have the references on me. I won't have access to my references until Thursday or Friday.

Ok...I have an Army TM disk that lists technical data of all sorts on all Army HMMWV variants. I don't find any mention of an M1145 FAC vehicle.

The closest thing I find on it is a M707 Striker Fire Support Vehicle.

Can you provide me the link to the images you are referencing?

Judging by the pictures I have seen I would say No. It looks to have a solid roof.

Its a spin-off of the M1114

Here is the Prime portal link.
M1145 looks like a up armored M1114.According to " the Encyclopedia of Modern US military tactical vehicals" from Carl Shulze, M1145 is a M1114 version used by USAF
Cheers

I have some pictures I took, and there is the opening showing inside the top of the roof. On top it looks like it is some kind of thin plug. The Prime Portal pictures are under softskins, M1145 FAC HMMWV. Thanks for the link Pascal.

I'm not going to be of any help to you. I've disected my Army TM disk and there is absolutely no mention of an M1145 FAC configuration. Sorry to get you excited for nothing.

From what I've seen the radio jeeps assigned to Combat Control Teams in Vietnam were not armed in any way. I would imagine the doctrine for CCT (now TACP) employment hasn't changed very much since then and that these vehicles are still unarmed.

I wonder if there's a USAF specific HMMWV manual somewhere with more details. The M1116 isn't in any of the Army TMs either.

Judging from the layout of the comms gear inside the vehicle, from what I can see on the primeportal site, there isnt room for the turret ring mounting inside the vehicle.

I hadn't thought about the lack of space for a turret ring above the comm rack. Guess I should look closer at my own pic! Thanks for the input folks. If anyone has any other info please post.
