Hi Tomi
A very nice and unusual model. I specially like the IR device. The only thing which springs to my mind is the tracks, maybe a bit more weathering/rust? Well, I look forward to see more builds in the future.

Looks great. How did you get the texture on the hull plates? It's a great affect.

Texture is made with Dremel, just bouncing the blade on surface. Yeah, tracks are bit too clean, but it remains to be seen if I can return to this model since I already started next one. But there's slight chance that in future this goes to diorama, then it's more dirt for sure.

This is a really nice Jagdpanther you have here. I would be interested to know how exactly you painted the optics of the IR set (is it Voyager?)

Oh, I forgot that IR completely... It's Great Wall Hobby set, really nice kit (some very minor fit issues with parts but that's it). Larger lens is painted from behind so outside is just clear plastic, smaller is first painted then coated with clear varnish. Color is Vallejo panzer aces "periscopes", maybe not "right" color but looks nice.

Thanks Tomi for the answer. I must say that I used exactly the same paint for the optics in my Panther IR, and just as you did I appled a gloss varnish over it
I think it's a good choice.
I really like the texture you made with your dremel. Must try it.

With this build Last Panther in Pomerania lenses are painted with raw umber, and in GWH box artwork they seem to be more of a brownish dark. But as said, they sure look good as they are now.

Hello again
Do you know what colour these lences were in real life? I thought they where supposed to be some sort of dark brownish red, but I'm not sure of this. This is my IR device.
It's a "pimped up" IR from Tamiya

That is some wicked looking kitty mate. I like it a lot... Great painting and weathering. You explained about the pitted effect of the rolled steel by bouncing the blade of the Dremel over the surface. Do you have a special bit for this or do you use a standard drill bit?

I use 2 differnt size ball head cutter blades, 1.8mm and 1mm in diameter, to give that random effect.
As for the lens color, I'm not familiar with these IR-devices. But, as that Missing Lynx article states, raw umber is supposed to be "right" color and that is some sort of brown...?

Tomi,
Interesting camo scheme. Is it based on an actual reference, or is it one you've created yourself? Either way it looks good. And the IR gear looks great. Nice build!

I just took airbrush and let it rip I had something different in mind originally and somehow it changed to this, first I didn't even like it too much but with weathering it turned out ok.
And thanks.

By the way, there is a small lesson here too. On right side track is too loose, that is not intentional and nothing to do with that rubber rimmed wheel set. Fact is that never glue idler's axle in place until track tension is checked ok...
Left side is perfect, but that is accident and not intentional either I will remember this with my next build, promise.

In fact IR Searchlight were black with a slight reddish sheen...
