Hello! This picture is from the "Feature" on Euromilitaire 2006. The Pine tree in the background is striking! Someone put much care into the branching pattern, and the needle density.
Does anyone know what the Pine needles are made of? Is the modeler of this diorama a member of Armorma?

Hi Rick,
I can add to this that as far as i remember the dio on the front is 1/72 . I have a feature of it in a magazine. I don't remember the tree on it and it may well be that the tree belongs to something behind this dio (as the teleskop is also).
I don't have a lot of magazines so if you give me a chance (this evening) i can check that.
Cheers
Claude

It's hard to say, but it almost looks like some sort of static grass.

I promised to look for it, and i did, but could not find anything. I admit, i could not find my few magazines anymore LOL, except those featuring Clervaux of course.
If the tree is part of the dio i suppose taht because of the size the needles are
part of a ready made foliage.

The article I have is from Euromodelismo_148 and no tree on it.
A Spanish modeler.

Hi
I would guess they have used a type of fine fern used by Florists in flower arranging. Preserved it and cut, glued to suit.
Here is an article here using the same fern, sorry don't know name of fern.

Hi,
sorry Alan, i disagree here, the fern you mean is Aspargus fern, i use it also and is defintely not the one used in this one.
But anyway, it would be one of the choices for a 1/35 tree where i think that ready made foliage of any sort is not really good.
Cheers

Hi Claude
I don't know, the image is quite small and far away. Possibly florist fern cut into smaller sections then fixed together to create this effect, or maybe another scenic product called "Seafoam". I certainly think its some sort of natural organic plant that's been used to good effect.
Maybe someone will turn up the diorama creators name, get in contact and the mystery will be solved.
I didn't go to Euro that year, but the year after, 2007 and remember seeing your model of the Castle there. Well you couldn't miss it really, as it virtually filled the window area it was located by. It's grown a lot since then of course with even more hours of love and labour devoted to it. Hope it finds a permanent home to be displayed for all to see and admire.
All the best.

Maybe it's something like this.
http://forum.beneluxspoor.net/index.php/topic,13464.120.html
It's in Dutch but pictures say more than words. The guy used Scotch Brite for fine twigs and some fine foilage (leafs)

Thank-you, everyone, for the good feed-back, and reference to some spectacular sources for foliage-making! Claude's book ought to be referred to here [click on his banner for more information], as his trees are equal to any found among the above-mentioned spectacular sources.

looking closely at the photo, i think the tree is on a diffrent dio to the russian tanks on the bridge........ there is a burned out/shot up panther at the base of the tree that seams to be behind the railway carrage abit too... so its hard to say if the tree is 1/72 or 1/35 scale but just further back.
saddly i dont know who did the build, but its another clue to keep looking for.
