Has anyone built any of the OLD Trumpeter AFV kits? A local secomd hand shop has a bunch of unbuilt models for sale, including a six wheel Chinese AFV with an external autocannon on the roof. I was wondering if it is worth buying (for less than $10) I'm not finiky but I don't want something that looks like a toy either and the box art REALLY makes the kit look like a toy.

hello
yep really toyish....but if you can get them cheap they make good practise kits,if your only gonna display them to friends then they make a good bargin.
also if you want to do a conversion its better to practise cutting up a cheap trumpy T55 then an expensive tamiya one.

The plastic used in some of the older Trumpeter kits has quite a soft, almost waxy, texture to it that makes sanding a real pain.
Accuracy-wise they're a mixed bunch, for example their older post-war Soviet stuff doesn't have a particulary good reputation.

Thanks guys,
Good kit for the 10 yr old to practice on then. Naturally, HE wants to go from snap togethers to the Dragon SEP.
