just wanted to share with you a couple of re-done diorama's i've made. The original 2 I did were the first few I made when just starting out, and together with practise, new techniques, & learning from the many posts here I think I've now done them alittle 'busier'!!
Here's the first, a Tamiya Krupp Protze with 3.7cm Pak. Straght from the box, cheap & cheerful

And here's what I did to it.
The thought behind the scene is that the rider of the motorcycle has just stopped to 'relieve' himself behind the bush en route into Russia in the early days of Barbarossa. The road is now blocked, much to the annoyance of the NCO in the truck, but to the amusement of everyone else......
The motorcyclists are from 'Master Box', the building behind is an old 'Italeri' church door that I played around with. Addmittedly I did very little to the truck form the original model I added afew chips & scratches, washes, gave it a new wire on the front with some brackets, & rebuilt the figures, including a couple of new heads from VLS Warriors.
This is the second, a Tamiya wespe with 4 figures from Revell I think. I remember at the time seeing the set of 4 for around £3.50 & thinking I had a real bargain at that price...oh dear!!

On this one, I totally repainted the exterior & interior of the wespe, broke the side walls off to get to the inside detail. Had wanted to airbrush the markings on the outside, but my airbrush skills (or lack of them) failed me, so unfortunately had to revert to hand painting. The figures are 'Dragons' German Self Propelled Gun Crew, & the accessories are 'AFV Club' 10.5cm Howitzer Ammunition Set. The Dragon figures are perhaps just a slight improvement on the Revell ones........

The bank is made up from some fine leaves from an outside bush, left to dry, sprayed brown, & carfully glued into the ground. They worked very well as instant small trees, but when dried they're very delicate!! Static grass, 'Woodland Scenics' field grass, dried finely chopped autumn leaves & pigments made up the rest of it.
The 'tree' at the back was just a root from the flower bed, added to give alittle height in that corner. The fence is just some twigs glued together & painted. In an ideal world, the camouflage on the Wespe needs to be airbrushed on, to give it more realism, need more practise in that department...

Anyway, thanks for looking. Recycling these to be honest wasn't a job I was too looking forward to, going over old ground, but to totally change both scenes, bringing in more items to add interest certainly made them all worth while. And alot of it is due to the superb photo's & advice people are bringing to this site, encouraging others to learn & keep pushing for improvement!!
Cheers for now,
SIMON
