I wasn't sure if this goes here, but I gotta start somewhere. Anyway, I'm looking for info on Egyptian M4's w/ the French FL 10 turret. I figure that, at least the turret/ gun and some automotive parts where used (and as targets).

Not sure what you are looking for , so here is some general info. Most were M4A4 chassis re-engined with the GM diesels as used in M4A2s. Engine deck was from the A2s as was the exhaust. They had large "deflector mounted at the rear to re-direct the exhaust. Barrel "stays" mounted on the front hull to support the barrel. I used a Heller AMX 13 turret. See below.
Hope this helps a bit.

Many thanx guys. India, your build will be a HUGE help . And Marcb, the pix are perfect . I'm cleaning off the work bench (WTF- weapons test facility ) for two of these, 1-whole, 1 creamed. If I can, I'm going to try and see whose got junk AMX- 13's they may part with (gotta post that on "Good traders") All that is left is to find out what part they played in the IDF if any ,Michael. P.S. super response!!!

Vasko Barbic did a series of articles in Military Modelling back in the 1980s, one on the Sherman with the AMX13 turret (Feb.'86),the AMX 13 (Oct'86), Sherman Hybride ie a Sherman V with desiels and Sherman III engine deck (Apr'88), as well as Israeli Shermans (Jan'86, July'84, & Aug'86). I know these are past history, but his articles are first hand observations and still very good. At least now we have better kits to work on and save a lot of time. Insidently, Military Modelcraft International magazine di acouple of articles on Fireflys in Lebanon service up to around 1980, and also have done a very nice couple of transfer sheets to go with them, I am building a Phalangist one in the late '70s, with a French desiel engine and different engine deck. Hope this is of help, especially if you can get hold of the articles!
