A realize this might seem like an odd question but what is the diameter of the base of a 120mm tank round as fired by the Abrams, Leo, etc...?

Mike,
After measuring the 120mm aftcap that sits on my desk, the base is 6 1/2 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches high. The firing probe is 12 inches tall.
I have no idea what diameter of a 152mm base is, sorry.
Are you making the trip west this weekend??
John

Thanks John. That was what I was looking for. Sounds like you have a cool desk. Beats the TASER darts stuck in mine.
I'm gonna miss AMPS this year. I had already promised the wife that I would take her to Georgia on 5/3 for a Cabbage Patch Convention I would much rather be going to Chicago.

The 152mm round was the same size as the bore. It was a uniform size just like a sherman shell. It did not have a larger chamber like the 120. There were no empties from conventional ammo only the missle left an aft cap which was the same diameter as the missle 152mm. I had one but could not figure how to ship it home from Germany. the Army frowned on soldiers shipping home ordinance, even spent shells.

Really? I can't imagine why.
