Hey Guy's,
Just picked up 3 boxes of Dragons old NVA Sapper figure sets, never got around to buying any when they were in production and then I came across these 3 boxes at a price I couldn't resist. Ok, now since getting them I have been thinking what to do with them and have been searching on the internet for ideas other than the usual jungle vignettes; I was looking for photos that might show troops attacking next to a NVA tank or something, but so far no luck. I remember correctly quite awhile ago in a magazine article I saw some NVA troops next to a PT-76 tank I believe the article was about an attack on a small firebase. I thought maybe that would be a good project, would like to know if anyone could verify the accuracy of this as the article was a long time ago, and if so possibly a link to photos that would help out in the planning of a project like this? TIA

Hi Tom,
Yeah, it was the battle of Lang Vei not far from Khe Sanh. The NVA attacked the Special Forces camp as they laid siege to the Khe Sanh Combat Base.
It was the first time the NVA used tanks against US forces.
This was where the famous radio message came from when the beleagured SF camp pleaded for assistance from KSCB: "We got tanks in the wire!"

Thanks Joe,
Ya I am researching photos to see what type of terrain surrounded the SF base, was thinking of one of the PT-76 tanks and combing the 3 boxes of advancing NVA troops, have them running maybe behind and to the side of the tank. Anyone know which PT-76 tank by Trumpeter is the correct model for a NVA version?

The NVA figures and the Viet Cong figures combine nicely and with some modification with a razor saw and some putty ,you can come up with lots of poses. I already had a few boxes of them and ordered another ,accidently hit three and said what the heck. They will come in handy if only I can get myself to actually finish something..... ....Al

Ya, I am planning the same, one box stock and the other two I am playing with the parts to come up with more poses, not that hard, their such nice figures. I like the hollow helmets so getting some asian heads from Hornet to give more variety to the figures will be easy, don't have to hollow out helmets or cut off part of the heads...
