UM has a nice series of the Pz 38t variants and this is the ausf M.
It has been paint in Vallejo dungelgelb (too green eventually) and faded with oils.
It has some work left but it's almost finished.
Any comments would be useful.
Best regards, Alexander

Nicely done. I've got quite a few of their kits and they often build up well. In the photo there is something about the part of the track where the individual links around the drive sprocket meet the length of track that goes down to the first road wheel. It could just be the angle of the photograph though. I can't tell for sure.

I agree with SABOT - in the B&W image, the angle of the horizontal "bars" in the left track (right in the photo) seem to change at the joint towards the bottom of the drive sprocket.
Otherwise, looks very nice!

Thanks for your comments guys.
UM tracks are giving me a hard time in every build. This is the third 38t variant that I'm building and still I haven't mastered handling them.
I'll get them next time though.
Best regards, Alexander

Hello Michael.
Building was ok, although there are a couple of tricky spots.
I would not recommend to beginners.
Regards, Alexander

Hi Alexander
thats a great looking Marder, I really like the subtle paint chipping and overall appearance & finish. You achieved a good dip in the top of the tracks, too, they have a nice litle hang, you must have bent the straight pieces a bit ? Anyway it looks effective, as the supplied tracks pieces are dead flat across the top as you know, and yours look a lot better.
I have this one on my shelf still in the box, I hope when I build mine it looks as good.
I've built 5 other UM kits with the same T38 chassis, (the 138/1 bison, 140 flak, 140/1 recce tank, sig 33/2, marder III139) and I know what you mean about the tracks.
These kits are mostly a pretty good fit, so I took it for granted that the track links would sit perfectly on the front sprocket.. The first couple I made look similar to your picture, and the next couple I built, I filed the teeth on the sprocket down, in a couple of places, till the links sat flatter. The front sprocket still looks fine and the single links look better all round too. I didn't file all the teeth down, there was no need to, most of the links sat right, just in places where 2 or 3 links didn't sit quite right.
cheers
Neil

Hi Neil thanks for your comments
I did bent the tracks after dipping them in boiled water. If you try it keep in mind that after a while they might tend to get back to their previous shape and this may alter the final visual result.
I also noticed that the chassis does not close perfectly on all my builds, hence a gap is created but is not visible because it is on the belly. Don't know if anyone has have experienced something similar.
Sometimes I have too resorted in filing the teeth of the sprockets or the teeth of the tracks that sit on the idler wheel.
Right now I am starting a small vignette around the tank so I'll keep you posted.
Best regards, Alexander

Very nice build, Alexander. It's always rewarding to see a finished small scale build that can rival it's larger scale cousins in detail. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad you like it Gary thanks.
Some pics of my progress.
As this is my first attempt to model a rural environment I pretty much followed Sven-Åke Grufstedt's tutorial (with my special thanks) as described in his post ( https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/154243&page=1 ).
My first tree came out much better that I hoped.
And the metal figs almost done.
More pics soon, I hope you enjoy
Best regards, Alexander

With the figures ready it's time for a fitting test. That's the scene I have in mind.
As always any comments-suggestions are welcome.
It's time for the Marder to get some track work. More pics will follow.
P.A.

Really great work, Alexander. I always appreciate 1/72 figures with detail painting. You did a fabulous job on them. THe base looks quite good also; wish mine turned out as well.
