Can someone please recommond some 1/35 british tank crew.

I'm not a great figure painter but I don't like to see my models devoid of all life.

I don't want anything expensive, just want a few figures to occupy commander and driver positions. My primary goal is a commander for a churchill and a driver for a centaur.

I've had a look around myself and all my searches hit the minicraft stuff (35078). The problem is that the poses depict the crew lounging and draping themselves over the tank which is not really what I'm after. It will do if I can't find anything else but I'd like to see what else in on offer.

Miniart also do a armoured car crew (35609) - this is much more like what I'm after but I assume that armoured car crew wear different stuff to tank crew.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Would also be interested in buying any spares you might have - this would possibly only work within the UK.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hey Nigel,
There's lots of resin figures out there to choose from.
Alpha Image, Hornet and Wolf, Alpine Miniatures, Wee Friends, Ultracast, Warriors and Nemrod to name a few.
Unfortunately, one figure costs as much as one of the MiniArt sets.
There's really not much out there in plastic, both of the MiniArt sets look excellent and price wise should fit your bill.
British armoured car and tank crews wore identical kit.
Depending on where they were serving, the crews wore denim shirtsleeves or coveralls, wool battledress, "Pixie Suits", work boilersuits, etc....all depending on the weather and temperatures.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Many thanks.

Yes, that is what I'm finding. I've just looked through the DML catlogue - they have loads of gun crews, loads of riders and just one tank crew (german of course).

I can't really justify resin. My skill just isn't good enough - it's hard enough for me to justify spending over £20 on a tank kit when I know that I'm going to make a mediochre job of it. And I find figure painting even harder.

I'm not too anal about accuracy either.

I'm generally happy to use whatever comes with the kit (I'm a strong beleiver that ever tank kit should come with at least one crew).

But my latest challenges are a Centaur - which has commander and gunner but no driver. I could model it with the driver buttoned up but that may look a little odd with his two mates hanging out of their hatches.

And a Churchill. This is a AVF-Club one, so no crew at all.

Cheers,

Nigel

Have a look at Miniart and Masterbox ( I can't remember which!). I'm sure you'll find something there.

If you British tank crew, Miniart has also THIS KIT
They are not perfect but with some sandpaper and putty they can appear nice for reasonable price

Hey Nigel,
Like I posted earlier, Ultracast, Warriors, Hornet and Wolf and several other manufacturers have sets that should fit the bill.
Some of these sets come with half figures, perfect to represent a driver sticking out of his hatch.
The cost is higher but it certainly fills out those open hatches.
Cheers

Yes Miniart do two (well one really) which was what I referenced in my original post. The second one is armoured car crew - these have better poses but I presume what they are wearing would not be correct.

Yes that is the one I referenced in my original post. The problem I have with this set, is each of the figures are positioned outside the tank.

Cheers,

Nigel
