HobbyBoss' New Land Rover. This time, they get REALLY spectacular with the VERY first glimpse of the WMIK kit added. The Photo-Report can be seen:

I'm drooling over the keyboard
I hope some AM company makes some figures for it
I also hope this encourages Italeri or Revell to re-release the old 109 Landy.. I would love to have a few of those.
Thanks for the pics

Looks fantastic! just a couple of things.. shouldn't the spare wheel be mounted on the roll cage, and the rifles mounted between the front seats?

This looks fantastic. Can't wait for this to hit the shelves. Fully loaded with gear and a crew it will make a fantastic model. Could Hobbyboss not do something similar, like producing the latest Humvee's.

I don't know about rifles, but the wheel certainly shouldn't be on the bonnet. Hopefully it's just a mistake of anyone who build the test model.

Accurate Armour already makes excellent aftermarket resin figures for use with their Land Rovers.

Thanks for the tip, Jason.. I checked out the AA site and their figures look pretty nice.
By the way, regarding the spare tire, if you check out the link below, you'll see the AA Landy with the spare tire on the hood of the vehicle.. but it's covered. So, maybe it could be used that way too?

There is usually a stowage basket/net on the bonnet; have seen some vehicles in combat areas with one spare mounted on each side of the roll cage; rifle stowage on model is that used on the RSOV,or at least the demonstrator model-usual stowage on 'Wolf' is on a vertical mount between the seats. Hope Hobby Boss plans on making a substantial number-sounds like there is going to be a run on these once released. Makes one wonder why it took so long for these to made because it sure sounds like it has been a most wanted subject for some time.

Just looked at detail photos-seat in rear appears to be on the wrong side as well; should be mounted behind commander's (gunner's) seat. Or is that just the angle of the picture?

Hisham--please note that the vehicle you reference on the AA website is the SAS 110 version, not a Wolf. From all accounts, the SAS retained their 110s during Operation Telic, while the Wolf/WMIK was used by other units of the British Army and Royal Marines. I have seen several pictures of the Wolf used by the Parachute Regiment and the Royal Irish Regiment, as well as the Royal Marines. A nice book to get if you can is Tankograd's British Special No.4 Land Rover Defender. It takes one through many of the current versions and has some great colour photos as well. This book is currently available and should be relatively easy to find. And it is not too expensive. For a bit more, Pat Ware's book Military Land Rover: Development and in Service is also a nice guide to have on hand. It is also currently available from Ian Allan publishers. Anyway, the spare on the Wolf is normally on the cage depending on if right-or left- hand drive (it ususlly goes on the side opposite the driver); the SAS 110 the bonnet. Hope this helps!

One of the serious problems in planning against Canadian doctrine is that the Canadians do not read their manuals, nor do they feel any obligations to follow their doctrine.

Hi all,
I can confirm that the spare wheel has to be on the bonnet. The bonnet on all Land Rover TUL/TUM are made from fibre glass and will not support the spare wheel assembly.

DML's in-house 'Shill' has just come across this:
Quoted Text
I just came across some model photos of Model Boss’s Land Rover Wolf kit , that are “exclusively” for Buglerama as it claimed. The kit looks interesting, and I feel pity to Accurate Armor for providing the master ......
Fact, knowing the people at AA, when I got the images, I made sure they knew about them and, invited their comments (after all, it wouldn't be the first time that someone has 'borrowed' their models). There have been THREE updates on the HB Landys - AA was notified about each one...
The reality is, that at this point, I've received no indication that HobbyBoss has ripped anything off from AA whatsoever.
Everything indicates that HB has done their own research and their own development of this productOne thing is copying another company's injection-moulded kit, another, quite different proposition, is doing the same with a RESIN one.
Over to you Tokyo Rose...

I've read posts on this and other sites by people accusing Trumpeter and Hobbyboss of ripping off other manufacturer's kits.
I think if anyone really does suspect that (including AA in this case), they should be asked to show detailed pics that show without any doubt how Trumpeter's and Hobbyboss's kits are rip-offs... otherwise, they shouldn't make these kinds of accusations without backing them up with any proof.
