I am going to be Doing a build log for the dio for my E-100(build log in con. feed. thread).
Here is what I Have planned

I Started off with base that my brother had used for a school project and cut it don to size. 1.5'x1.2'. and drew some lines of where i wanted the road to be.

My Next step was to build up the road and the enbankments, leading to the river/creek on one side and the forest on the other. Followed by nailing the part to the base.

I then filled in the gaps using Woodland Scenics Foam Putty

Now I have to wait for the putty to dry before moving on.

Was gonna say that a universal carrier and a zis-3 in the same dio would be off but.....the E-100 takes care of that arguement. Rock on brother

Even if your E-100 is wearing zimmerit? haha. I realize this is totally a what-if, but shouldn't it be based upon REAL events in a time-line? Maybe Im nit-picking.

It also seems to me that the road will be completely taken up by the E-100 and will look somewhat odd with the curve.

But whatever makes you happy.

I think I have a way to tie the whole dio together. As most roads back in those days were very small( particularly backcountry roads) and the fact that the E-100 is so big. I thought of having one of the crew members out in front of the tank helping the driver navigate the tight corner, would not be too far fetched. It would also bring the dio together as it would represent them trying to not end up like the russians laying in the ditch.

What are your thoughts on this?

Mark,
What about getting rid of the "river" and just expanding the road bed out further? It just looks a little tight with everything centered as you've laid it out. Of course you'll also need some height to triangulate everything; maybe some telephone poles or power lines? How tall will the trees be in the forest? Im anxious to see how you put everything together to tell the story.....

I have changed the dio a little bit, I turned the river into a lake and have added a creek flowing into it via a culvert under the road. As the river really looked out of place in the dio but now with the creek it works into the scene much better.

As for the tree's there are going to be ranging in height from 6" to 9.5" and the amount of tree's in the dio will be dependant on how many i can get in with it not looking overcrowded.
