I finished this M51 model a few weeks ago and wanted to see what you think of it. It is the Dragon kit pretty much out of the box with a few things added. So here are some images of the finished product.

looks nice!
one thing though. I see that the dragon kit omits the coaxial MG. so does the academy, even though is this picture I have taken, the MG clearly shows. is the dragon / academy kit a different kind of vehicle?

Thanks! I can fix that. I think I have spare MG barrel laying around.

Interesting...
Even the Accurate Armor detail and update set for the Dragon kit doesn't seem to include a protruding coaxial MG like the photos.
What did you think of the kit? I've been thinking about picking it up lately.
As for the model, I like it. Hope mine would come out that nicely. If I had to find something I didn't like, I would say that maybe use a darker wash for at least the jerry cans, instead of the tan color. Sure they would be dusty, but they are also fairly likely to be used fairly often.

yeah, after seeing this model I went ahead and picked one for myself hope I'll do half as good
anyway, it's very strange such a prominent thing has been omitted by both DML & ACA and accurate armor

Nice build and painting ,BUT there are some small mistakes.
I will give my opp. and please take it as a constructive one and not other way.
There are some mistakes since you incorporated several things that are not been installed at the same time, so you are mixing brackets from different time periods. I will mention only few here
1. The box on the turret side, is wrong shape and size and really damages the model.
2. Your tanks engine deck represent late batch but the rear rack that you add is regular Sherman one that was not used on late ones,
3. The same for the .50 machine gun, most of the late ones had .30 machine gun on mount on commanders capula side. When .50 was used it was installed on top of the main gun, instead the large search light.
4. Spare track brackets are missing from the turret sides.
Hope its help.

I also would like to know about what you thought of the kit- im interested in maybe picking one up. My only nit-pick is the sand/ dust (which looks great!) looks too yellowy.

The kit is pretty good. I had trouble with the transmission cover fit and the DS tracks are two links too long.

Robert that is main grip with this kit in that it seems to be a mixture of all the versions. I have the info for the M51 versions I just got lazy.

Hey Terry, your build is great! I want to get both M-51's and some day start a M-50 Mk-I and a M-50 Mk-II. Again great work!

Thanks Marcin!! I knew the draw backs of the kit, but I think it's a pretty good kit anyway.
