Ohhhh Boyyyy.... the "water" subject again!
Actually this is not too hard... it's all a matter of timing. You need to "catch" your water before it fully hardens, but still must be cured enough to have "memory".... when I pour "water" (I use Envirotex EZ Pour) i also pour a little into a plastic cap at the same time. I keep the cap with me for the next few hours, and now and then touch it to see how cured it has become. When my sample has memory, i immediately head out to the studio and use my tools to pull troughs of water, or use a brush to dimple the top. You have a window of about 15-20 minutes to get "just enough" elasticity that a new shape can be made from the smooth surface, while not risking that the indentions will "re-settle" into a smooth state. Does that help?

Captain:
I used "Woodland Sceincs E-Z water" and when it gets hard make your ripples with a heat gun. Works great.

Captain:
For instructions on EZwater go to www.woodland scenics and at top of the page click landscapeing then water.
The heat gun cost me $12.00 to rent for 24hrs.
