I was wondering why having so much active members in Armorama, the Galleries arenīt bigger. The Gallery is a wonderfull tool where we can place our jobs so everyone could see them.

I know Jim is working on improvements to the Gallery to allow more 'interaction' with it. Haven't heard about it in a while so I don't know a current status.
Honestly, I would check back and check it out every once in a while. There is usually new stuff put on on average of once a week or so.

With the exception of a few of the military reference sites, is there a modeling site with a larger gallery than 8,000 images? I am not aware of it if it if there is one. Just curious on that score.

Of course if you mean why there haven't been as many additions to our gallery lately it's because (haven't I posted this enough yet?) our gallery is over-loaded at 8000+ images and I am working to install a new gallery/photo system called PhotoPost (www.photopost.com). Look for it to be available soon. I am just working out some final cookie issues and then it will be ready.

Thanks,
Jim

I feel that the display of the Gallery doesnīt let you know that there are 8.000 images there.
Where can you see this data ?

From the home gallery page it tells you how many images.

8 albums, 8603 photos on 2 pages

Gotta drill down the albums to see them all.

Jim

Paul, I hate to say it, but with the limitations you place on your downloading from the gallery, it is kind of hard to get the images in a timely fashion. I know bandwidth is a problem and this is certainly not an indictment of Track-Link, which I am also a member of, but the large number of photos I want to post on the internet would just be troublesome on track-link. I have ove a hundred megs I would like to post, and even Jims new system might be a little overloaded for that.

Rob

BTW Jim, I have over 600 original Abrams pics and 75 or so of the PLS that I would like to post once the new system is up. Have you spent much time figuring out pricing for extra space? I would like to have at least 75 megs if thats' possible. I think I probably would want more space than the aveage person, if that helps you in deciding your prices.

Hey Jim.....that 8000+ images doesn't take into account the images everyone has posted on their own MSN picture page in the Armorama MSN place does it?

We are just talking about the Gallery that can be accessed from on the left of the Armorama page?

I wonder how many pics would be in the Armorama MSN site!!!

There are no limitations on dowloading model pictures from the gallery on Track-Link. Perhaps you are referring to the Image Library (of reference images)? I wasn't counting those. They are going anyways. I want to focus on modelling and not reference pictures.. which is kind of "cheap" content anyways. It is nicer to see pictures of people's models.

I have to agree about the Reference image problem. It's great to have them. But there are so many and they could easily gobble up all the space on a server quickly.

I think I am going to stick to images taken by actual members (ie: Rob's Motorpool type stuff) rather than images from all over the net. I really don't know what else to do.

Rob - I was thinking of a 10-20mb package for upgraded members. I can certainly give you a price on something in the 75mb range on an annual basis. But you will find it's almost cheaper to signup with a phpwebhosting.com or other cheap host. Heck you can get a lot of HD space these days for as low as $10 a month.

Cheers,
Jim

Actually Jim... for people like Rob with his 100MB of pictures, he must have his own web site space provided by his ISP. Why not write up a set of instructions on how to upload the pictures there along with some simple HTML instructions? Then you could link from your site directly to his web space?

That would certainly be nice, especially if they would do hotlinking. I have frontpage and am doing a rudimentary set of pages for a gallery of the pictures. I have yahoo/sbc, but have not heard of anything on personal webpage, I will have to check into it.
