Dragon produces a fine range of the 251 series.
In this build I have used extratech's engine kit which is designed to fit the Hasegawa model but it can be used reasonable well in this kit too.
It has been painted in Vallejo Model Air 71025 Dark Yellow and weathered with oils.
Any comments would be useful.
Best regards, Alexander

Looking really good, Alexander. I would be curious to see more pictures as I have this 251 'D' model in my stash. Looking forward to more progress shots.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Jan I am posting some more pics. I have a question though.
Is the gun's shield correct?

Excellant painting and details, Alexander. Thanks for showing them.
The gun shield is correct for a gun scavenged from an obsolete Pak 36. Besides the type of kit shield there were two others that can be found in pictures. I believe that the other shields were field modifications. One is like the kit one but half the height. The other that appears has only a part half height shield on the left (drivers side) of the gun.
Cheers,
Jan

alex, that is almost magical work. if i did not know this was a 1/72 kit i could swear it was 1/35. great job on the interior details. weathering is perfect. i have this kit on the shelf and would love it to come out half as nice. keep up the great work as i love to see this scale featured.

It's been a while since my last post I hope everyone is doing ok.
The model was painted with Vallejo colors. The engine covers were included in the extratech engine kit but the rear doors were constructed with copper sheet and fine wire.
I hope you enjoy.
Any comments / ideas are welcome.

Hi Alexander,
Really nice build and excellent detail work. I am building two of these at the moment, one for a friend and one for myself, I have built about five others for my wargames army and each one was a joy to do. I agree that they are a fine range of models and I have another four in the stash to look forward to.
Keep up the good work, all the best,
Paul

Beautiful job, Alexander.
I take it that you still have a bit to do since the exterior still looks glossy compared to the interior. IS this the kit number 7280? If so, those markings aren't in my kit. I must also say that you did a super job with the license plates. Mine are the kind where each number on them is a separate decal.
Cheers,
Jan

Paul : Good luck with your builds and thanks for the comments
Yan : Yes it's kit #7280 but the decals are from my spares bag.I changed the markings and try to be within historical limits.
As for the licence plate, it's from another kit too and it fits perfect in the PE plate that comes in the kit.I'll check it tomorrow and post from which kit they are.
I haven't tried to use Dragon's plate decals. Using separate decal numbers for 1/72 plate is just too much for me. If anyone has done it I'd like to know how.
Right now I am thinking about weathering the tracks. Do you think a simple dusting with pigments will do?

Hi Alexander,
I have used the separate numbers in the Dragon kit. They are fiddly, but if you use a fine brush to place them it is not too difficult. The Sig runes are ok to put on and look quite good. Here is the finished item:
All the best,
Paul
